EC pushing for more charges against Thanathorn

The Election Commission (EC) is seeking the filing of more charges against Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, the former leader of the dissolved Future Forward Party, including two criminal cases involving his alleged shareholding in V-Luck media and a loan extension.

 

The EC stated on March 3 that Thanathorn’s shareholding in V-Luck media violated Section 151 of the election law, which stipulates that a person who was knowingly not qualified shall be fined Bt20,000 to Bt200,000 or face one to 10 years of imprisonment if he applied to become a member of Parliament.

 

An investigation into the shareholding case has been completed and the evidence will be presented to a meeting of the EC. An update was expected next week.

 

Regarding the case of Thanathorn extending loans of Bt191.2-million to Future Forward, the EC is scrutinising the ruling of the Constitutional Court that resulted in the dissolution of the party.

Yes, I believe they go on a special course when they are in the running for an appointment to these bodies!????

 

Of course, if the sort of constitutional changes which FFP were advocating were to come about, then Thanathorns ten year ban will probably be nullified. I suppose they reason that they can drive him from the country.

They want him to run, but I don't think he will - so the move becomes very dangerous for the establishment if he chooses to stay and fight and martyr himself.

Meanwhile, 30-odd members of the ruling colailition who are also alleged to have held shares in media companies, along with the wife of the Nation Group owner, continue to sit in Parliament with no problems.

 

 

America, Britain and Europe must now start really sanctioning Thailand. Political persecution like this can not be over looked and ignored.

"Democracy" Thai style.  Attempt to destroy all voices who challenge the status quo, preferably using judicial edicts as those seem to give the repression and hint of legitimacy.  Not that the West is any better, but in the West they have destroying opposition down to a science. 

Stupid is as stupid does!  Fanning the the flames of discontent.  10% of the country liked the guy enough to vote for his party which is not an insignificant portion of the population.  Soon we revisit 2014.

10% voted for him, but how many would vote for him now if his party was still intact and they held a free and fair election tomorrow? I’m guessing it would be a lot more than 10%.

Thailand has a population of 60+ million people , but a lot of them are too young or too old to go and vote ... so , if FF party got 6 million votes , it is much more than 10% .

They are doing the same thing they have always done . Right now he is a hero , they want to send him on the run so they can spin it on how bad he is , not to mention try to get their hands on his money

The pro-military "establishment" want this anti-military man "out of their hair" so locking him up for a maximum 10 years will do nicely for them!!

Dream on!

Maybe it's a theater... The EC will find him not guilty on these new charges and this gives Future forward supporters / student protesters a "win" and shows that the EC is fair and unbiased. 

Meanwhile the 10 year ban is still upheld and seems more legitimate afterwards as the EC has now been proven to be unbiased and not corrupt.

It seems that many arms of government are gunning for this guy. Publicly.

Would it not be better if he was holding up a freeway somewhere, rather than hanging in a gibet.....

I thought public executions went out a long time ago, especially death by a thousand cuts.

I wonder how many rabble rousers 192 million baht would pay for?
