The Prime Minister's Office opened the Information Centre for Covid-19 Response Measures for the first day today (March 6) at Naree Samosorn building at Government House.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said the centre will be used to integrate related data from all agencies both in Thailand and from overseas to communicate the right information to the public regarding measures against Covid-19.

“In addition, the centre will allow people to file complaints, including those to do with the shortage or prices of face masks and hand-sanitiser gels,” he said.

“We confirm that our work will not overlap with the Public Health Ministry’s Emergency Operations Centre that will provide only medical information.

“Initially, the Government House centre will hold a daily press conference from 2pm to 3pm and also make a report on the latest Covid-19 situation to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on a daily basis.”

Wissanu said there is a possibility that the prime minister himself will hold a press conference if there are important or urgent issues.

“Also, the prime minister has appointed deputy prime ministers and related ministers to provide information to the public,” he said.

He said the centre expects to hold a press conference today on two issues – the establishment of a Covid-19 fund and the situation pertaining to illegal labourers in South Korea.

“Ministers of the Office of the Prime Minister will talk about the establishment of the Covid-19 Fund,” he said.

“Meanwhile, the Foreign, Labour and Interior ministries will clarify the situation of illegal labourers in South Korea, which includes measures to screen and monitor them before and after they return to Thailand.”

Wissanu added that people can file complaints via telephone number 02-288-6070 extn 4 or hotline 1111.

The US had 100,000 test kits last week, with 1,000,000 to be delivered this week. A wealthy country with a population of 350 million can't test but a fraction of people. If you believe Thailand have the ability to test more than a hand full of people, you will also believe that they only have 50 cases ????
