Here’s a Thai app for tracking the virus

Covidtracker website's interface

A Thai team known as 5Lab that develops websites, software and applications has introduced a site devoted to tracking the spread of the Covid-19 virus in Thailand.

The site formally launched on Friday (March 13) – https://covidtracker.5lab.co – provides information with real-time updates on people in Thailand confirmed as infected, including location, health status and date and time of confirmation.

All the data have source references to assure reliability, primarily at the Public Health Ministry, said chief executive Nithi Prasanpanich, but he believes the 5Lab site will be more useful than current information sources.

“The government’s information should be more accessible rather than just being given out in general statements,” he said.

“It should provide information online, since few people get to see its press releases. And every update should be open-source, use the same format and be stored in a systematic way. Then programmers will be able to upload the data into a program.”

Updates are manually added to CovidTracker after being factually verified.

The team was on Friday in the process of adding another server to meet rising interest in the site, having already experienced crashes.

Why not have a combined app for showing CV19 and crashes as well .. There'd be red dots all over Thailand .. I should imagine ..

Oh really, next you'll be telling us the rise in tourism is fake too !

If it's as good as the 'thaievisa' application I won't worry.

Map shows no cases in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai, so it's no good telling us where the cases are.

If its source material is only from government then it is inherently flawed.

What seem important to me is not the tracker but where can one go to get tested whether they actually have it or not?

What I'm reading now with South Korea as an example they are testing everyone providing drive thru etc. and thus seem to be able to control the spread?

If you actually have it and don't want to spread it where do you go in my case in Pattaya?

As NOBODY is checking anyone, it is impossible to know how many people in Thailand are actually infected.
As usual (eg pollution) the Generals  say everything is under control, do nothing, and hope it all goes away.

Will my mobile get a virus if I load it?

Gee maybe we in the USA should use this for our elections, sounds better than what we have!

is there any listing ( app or website ) that shows the details of all the confirmed cases ?  that will be handy !

then the interactive map becomes more powerful.

Seems like Thailand is heading down the same path as Italy, "virus not a problem here, everything is under control" me thinks government telling some porky pies.

OH my God. The health Minister make a app. I hope he used real data.

My trust in this country is gone after his postings.

Are they going to have coughing and sneezing app too?

I tried it, and it says I'm overdue for my 90 day reporting...lol

Little faith in Thai software and apps.

So it relies on government propaganda yet people are meant to believe it,  I'd just love to know how many places can actually test for this virus,  from my understanding there's very few

Is there ever a thing or action you keyboard warriors are fine with? Sitting behind you mobile, pad, laptop or PC just looking for something to complain about! You'd better stay all day in bed or drinking with your friends with same attitude and leave us alone!!! Don't bother us please with your negative attitude.

The app is only as good as the information that is input.

No cases in Pattaya per that tracker, anybody believe that?

Trust, you actually had trust?

another cr app

Such an app is a good idea in theory.

But it's really a garbage in / garbage out situation.

Up till now anyway the volume of testing here has been quite minimal.

A similar situation the USA (probably for a different set of reasons) which hopefully will change very soon.

If you don't test widely you get data that doesn't mean anything.

So maybe if/when Thailand tests much more widely such an app can be very useful. But not now.

I do not know about your mobile, but my notebook is safe with core temperatures above 56 degrees Centigrade.

Pot kettle black it seems ???? facts are facts not negative, latest is 75 known cases and Dr's say the actual number will be 10-20x that, people not tested and people showing no symptoms but still spreading it.
