Pattaya: Dozens of foreigners flouting virus regulations getting drunk in a bar - owners arrested

Pattaya Update News reported that police and local officials were out on Thursday evening enforcing the Chonburi governor's ban on the opening of entertainment places.

In Soi Bua Khao in central Pattaya they found 30 foreigners merrily getting drunk in a bar in the mid afternoon. This was against the rules, officials said.

The two female owners and licensees - Rinrada,20, and Nutjaree, 45 - were arrested on the spot and charged with violating the closure order and opening early.

They face jail of one year and or a 100,000 baht fine.

There were no reports of any foreigners being arrested.

Local official Pornchai Sang-iat said he was following the instructions of governor Pakrathorn Thianchai who has ordered all pubs, clubs, bars and entertainment venues like movie theatres, boxing arenas, spas and massage parlors shut until March 31st to help prevent the coronavirus, COVID-19.

When I see fellow foreigners behaving this way, I feel the shame they put over all of us. That places would try to keep open anyway was expected, but that fellow foreigners can´t get of grip of the severity is totally unfathomable. Shame on all of you that are doing this, showing disregard and disrespect to your fellow human beings.

Walking dead. They were selfish and ignorant when they were young. They are no different now that they are old. Show them the videos from France, Spain and Italy of the people their age  gasping for breath, lying in their urine and  feces because there is no one available to clean them, let them see those begging for help, slowly dying. Maybe they will get it.

If not, just isolate them all together in a cheap flat  and they can get to know each other some more.

And meanwhile in my BKK neighborhood, the same exact kind of places are operating and open just fine...

And the few tourists that I see around, mostly western now, are sitting around outside at bars and restaurant-bars eating and drinking table to table, just like nothing bad was happening anywhere.

We as Thai expats are extremely self centered but there's a certain pathology to the Pattaya Jomtien expat. It never sat well with me.

Golden times now for the B.I.B 's "pension funds"

Edited by david555

Surprised, as the bar in the photo was definitely not open when I went out for a look earlier this afternoon.

Without a link to this "videos" I would say you are scaremongering. I did see some videos from Italian Hospitals, but beside showing people in beds even in the hallways, there was no urine or feces. So, please show us some effidence, or <deleted>.

Maybe it was just the angle of the photo, but I couldn't see remotely close to 30 people, let alone foreigners in the bar.

I just declined my weekly table tennis and backgammon after at the pub/restaurant, which was still open, on the health and safety of me and them, so to be going out on the lash, surrounded by people you don't know is pretty irresponsible.

When these people get infected they will probably put it down to bad luck, rather than complete stupidity.

Possibly. But I think quite a significant proportion is  dedicated to buying a  higher  rank for the advantage of a higher percentage that will then go towards  a pension fund. 555

Same Sam but little different 5555…..

they are very  active latest , I saw them on Theprasit rd. check points for long time ,several times checking both directions moto cycles AND cars (just looking thru windows for safety belt wearing  I guess...)

And not only Farang or other foreigners , Thais also ….

So some high ranks could be"  loaded " now

Good news, the chubby wubby Thai woman was at least wearing a surgical mask!

And it looks as if both cops are wearing masks.

Message to Dumb F87$&$&k people, now is not the time to get pinched and tossed in jail for a few hours.

Just saying ....????

They do seem to be roughly social distancing though.

Similar in Chumphon.     but they are more like restaurants where you can get a beer also.

Actually if it wasn't for SongKran getting cancelled or flights/news, you would hardly know about the pandemic in Thailand.
