China's new imported coronavirus cases at record; no domestic transfers for second day

That should be the way. But somehow I feel that many stupid people think blaming China is the best way to deal with this pandemic. China already informed WHO on Dec 31 and the US on Jan 3 and yet Trump chose to downplay the seriousness of the outbreak by not preparing for it.

Everyone should understand that once an easily transmissible and dangerous new virus emerges, it doesn't matter where it started - it would eventually spread quickly throughout the world because of modern air travel. Want to really blame the pandemic on something? Blame air travel and international tourism then.

Stop eating wildlife will not prevent the next pandemic. After all, we have the constant threat from mutating strains of avian influenza. Should the world stop eating chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys?

So many one this forum and in the world in general do not believe what the Chinese say anyway ... so if they had been a week or a month earlier ... Would anyone have listened anyway?  This thing would have spread eventually ..... With world wide travel as it is today ...

If you want (as far as Uncle Sam goes) to play the blame game, you should go back at least as far as Dubya, then Obama and now Trump, cos YouTube is full of snippets of Bill Gates over MANY years pleading to take pandemics seriously and to PREPARE for them.  (Of course, one consequence of this pandemic is that, whoever will be the next potus, the USA from now on WILL start preparing for the next.)

See also warnings from (and google ) Larry Brilliant.

Nonsense. The Obama administration went to a lot of effort to set up a coordinated pandemic response center. The recognized that there without overall coordination there would be too much confusion and competing agendas from various federal agencies. It was all set up and ready to assume leadership in case of a pandemic. The Trump administration dismantled that.

We’re all a bit tired of your America bashing.  China bears full responsibility for Wuhan virus and subsequent collapse of financial markets worldwide.  Hope that didn’t hurt your feelings too much...

BTW Covid-19 is a CCP and WHO term.

The Chinese lied for one month. Trump lied for two.

Unless the world seriously gets angry with China and imposes severe penalties for everything that this virus that came from China - supposedly from a wet market - has done, then there is NOTHING to stop them continuing with this practice and the same happening next year.

50% immediate tax on ALL chinese products for 5 years to repay the world for their disease, and a total BAN on wet markets of exotic animals, You hit this nation with finance  - not words and paying them money for face masks

Maybe you aren't aware of the chatter in Chinese cyberspace. It seems now that the Chinese health authorities are freer to do some investigations because new infections in Wuhan have shrunk to zero, they have tracked down the first cluster. Where do you think this first cluster was located? It's the Wuhan Oriental Hotel. Apparently, 42 employees of this hotel were down with flu from November to December.

Wuhan Oriental Hotel is located just 300m away from the Huanan Seafood Market, which was wrongly suspected to be the first infection cluster. 7 people from the market that got sick in December and January have dealings with this hotel.

And this hotel was where the 300-strong US contingent to the Wuhan World Military Games had stayed from Oct 18 to Oct 27. Five US participants got high fever on Oct 25 and were hospitalised but were quickly removed and sent home.

Apparently the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had asked China to delay releasing its findings. China was okay with it because they knew that now is not the time to find fault but it wants details from the US about Patient 0 and are awaiting their reply.

Interesting, but pls give us something a bit more solid than "chatter" and "it seems" to confirm this strange story.  One would like to know what all those hotel employees are doing today, and I would observe that this sounds like a classic case of disinformation (putting the blame on a single US military officer).

A bit like how HIV began in San Francisco with one, just one, airline pilot.....

Well, we have to wait for the crisis to die down or maybe hope Trump provoke China further until the Chinese Foreign Ministry couldn't stand it any more and break their promise with Pompeo not to reveal the details.

Also, the US participants had trained at a location very close to Fort Detrick, the US military lab. Fort Detrick was ordered to be closed in July by the CDC for all kinds of problems.
