Maybe.... just maybe the government is doing the right thing by fudging numbers.

Maybe they know Thai will panic and lynch Farangs.

Personally I am sending a thank you note to Prayuth and Anutin.

Ya. But wait until you wake up...

Besides, if they start lynching farnags, who will be seen as the prime movers? I have a name in mind, tip of my tongue.

And .....   1 death.

They must think we are morons

Why? The guy that died was ill for 5 weeks, the vast majority of confirmed cases have been in the last fortnight.

My niece works at a large hospital in the middle of Bangkok, they had their first confirmed case this week, far less a death.

Looks like they are right in their thinking.

I suspect coronavirus travels or more like floats in the air much farther in cold air than in hot air. Similar to density altitude calculations for pilots. Hot air, less air density, less lift. In case of sneezing 3 meters was the distance measured in room temperature for coronaviruses before dropping to floor.

Also the virus is stable in 4 C while degrades in 30 C gradually. Meaning you could in theory be infected from years old virus in very northern climates.

I half jokingly suggested in another thread that there would be 1000 cases by Sunday...and suddenly I  am thinking I maybe right! ????

And on the same thinking the UK would be about 6000, with a slightly smaller population.

At this point in time I know where I would rather be.

I know Songkran has been cancelled but if people travel home anyway , then this figure will rise dramatically a few weeks after the holidays regardless of whether  people splash water around or not.

The holidays themselves should be deferred and people discouraged from traveling home to visit elderly relatives.

Canceled yes, but there will be 100% some idiots who ignore and still play..

Thailand to close malls as coronavirus cases jump

it appears that I cannot make a new topic in Thailand News.

Can one of the Mods  start a new topic?

I just got this headline on reuters a short time ago.

Perhaps in the news here somewhere and somebody else can confirm.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand announced it will close malls in the capital Bangkok as the country reported its largest daily increase in coronavirus infections on Saturday.

Malls, except for supermarkets, will be closed for 22 days beginning March 22 to April 12 in a bid to curb the outbreak of the coronavirus, Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said in a statement.

It seems that the number of recovered patients has been stuck at 44 for some time and only one death while new cases are confirmed every day. In other countries all three numbers normally rise daily.

Look at the 1000s of PUI recorded negative only after release from long hospital stays. And the 1000s still in hospital listed as "results pending" for weeks until they are released as negative. Surely some missing cases in there but how many? No one will never know.

Unfortunately "self isolation" is not fully understood by many.

Self=alone

isolation= away from others.

They will go home and share everything with the family, sitting areas, meal times, bathroom facilities, even sleeping areas.

The parents and siblings will then continue to live as normal, going outside, shopping, working socialising.. spreading the virus further.

What makes you predict they will likely do as you suggest they will?

It is the food markets and motorbike food stands where this virus spreads here from infected sellers to buyers. Little hand washing going on, dirty knives and so on. Not so much supermarkets or other venues.

Of course they will. What should they do, book themselves into a hotel?

Many come from the north where they may have generations sharing. They don’t have the option of going it alone

And in the same time we could read in the "Not named" newspaper that TAT hope that Chinese toutists will start to come back within 2 to 4 weeks. But there will be a change now TAT say. The tourists would have higher  demands on cleaning and hygiene. So we have to learn that from China.

Please give me a rest. Must be first time in world history one have even get the thought to learn about cleaning and hygiene from China.

Sunlight (UV) destroys viruses equally at all air temperatures.

You were making a statement, that clearly showed you believe lung infections and pneumonia is being used wildly to hide the real cause of death.

Nice try and well hidden, but spotted.

If the Corona virus is not tested for , it will no be found , do you agree ?

"

I really don't understand why the government have not yet moved to stage 3? What more has to happen before they finally realise they MUST close the borders".

In fact you could say that they did that yesterday  with the announcement that noone was to enter a flight to Thailand without a medical statement issued by a thai doctor. My wifes son who have been working on a Nigerian shipyard for a couple of months and shoud have come back to Thailand today, was stopped by this. The company he work for and who also pay the ticket was contacted of a person saying, "I can fix the paper needed for 10 000 USD per person". The company said no thanks, because of the cost and that they was paying the travel back to Thailand for 20 thai people. Those are now sitting in hotel rooms in Nigeria and not know when they can get back to Thailand

Agree, and then you mean that they just make assumptions, and are not testing people before they die and after they have died if a chance to be connected to the virus?

The clowns in the Thai government are almost as the clowns in Downing Street.

I imagine air pollution is making things worse in Thailand. I got a cough in Bangkok and it's not gone over a month later. Who knows if it is/was covid - Heathrow gave zero <deleted>'s about my having previously been in China.

A neighbor household in Kut Chap, Udon Thani (a few houses away) has now been confirmed having the Covid-19 virus. He is a police officer that lives in Bangkok but was visiting his mother. He was at the boxing match in Bangkok that infected so many.

There are currently a bunch of officials in the area tracing down people he have been in contact with, and people are spraying disinfected stuff around the area as well as cleaning door handles, gates etc with alcohol.

There has also been a funeral (party) the last couple of days in the area, so thats not good.

Personally, none of my family members have been around the area in recent days, other than in home or at work, but we will self-quarantine for the next 14 days.
