Presidents have been pumping out their chests and chancellors have been getting out their war chests. This is going to be a fight and an ugly one at that, they tell us. Perhaps a long one. Perhaps a very long one! It's a struggle against a hidden enemy but one that is likely to affect the great majority of people on Earth in ways almost unprecedented in peacetime.
