COVID-19: How Bangkok’s new stringent measures will affect you

Bangkok authorities have insisted that the new package of stringent measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus does not amount to a lockdown of the city.   But judging from its nature, it certainly very much looks like one.

The primary objective of a lockdown is to minimize movements of people. And if you don’t have shopping malls where you can spend your money, restaurants to eat out, places to hang out with friends, gyms to work out, or event beauty salons to have your hair done, then there are practically no reasons why you want to venture out in the next three weeks.

The authorities believe that with these new measures, they can discourage Bangkokians from leaving their homes and risking the chances of spreading or contracting the virus short of imposing a lockdown.

I'm betting than Hua Hin and that part of Thailand is soon going to get a large influx of Bangkokians...

I hope the stringent measures will impact me by minimising the spread of this virus to manageable levels such that social isolation is no longer necessary sooner rather than later.

Personally I've never liked crowds and I like social distancing but I do not like a deadly virus being the inspiration for it.

Just like the profligate, arrogant and ignorant English 'second homers' who, after emptying their local Aldi's and Asda's, have rented a camper and have headed for the Cairngorms.

I bet the golf is good there.

This might be slightly off topic but still "New Restrictions" related. I was informed this morning that if you travel from one province to another you are then required to remain there for a period of 14 days. Is this correct? My son had an accident last night in Korat and I am in Nontaburi but cannot spend 14 days in Korat.

Of course, no arrogant and ignorant Scots, Welsh or Irish involved.

Typical anti English racism from the narrow minded. Those who want to pretend their nationality isn't British!

Chinese Wuhan Virus—the world’s pandemic leaves scars worldwide.  Why should we buy Made in China?   Better to buy made in Thailand.
