Video: Thai professor comes up with a cheap "UV light" to beat the virus

Thai media has praised a Thai professor for coming up with a cheap and easy solution to rid your house of coronavirus.

All you need to do is get a UV tube for about 900 baht, turn it on for a bit then it's all clear.

Professor Sakrawee Raweekun posted a four minute video saying it really works.

It was important to follow all the instructions, he said, such as putting it on in a room for thirty minutes, then turning it off and not going into the room again for a further 15 minutes.

There may be truth in the professor's claims. Online information suggests that both heat and ultraviolet light can neutralize the virus.

The hub of cures for all diseases.

Strong UV light can work,  but its very important not to look at or be in the same room while its on !

1. Peer review, not putting up a video on YouTube is what is needed.  2. Has anyone told him about the inverse square law?

Probably bought it at Glow- bulllll.

Why do so many Thai academics treat common knowledge as scientific breakthroughs? Most UV lights are low on emission in the UV C band for safety reasons.

And  meanwhile all those  with  grow  lamps  for their .........tomato plants....... will be  quietly smiling.

But  give this  guy a  break!  He is  not claiming anything other than (apparently)  a way to make a  cheap uv lamp and  that it is (apparently) effective in sterilizing  a room. Nothing  about  "inventing " anything  or  claiming a  cure.

You fill your house with these then your government handout is all going on electric

Oh, I thought that praying is the solution to kill the virus.

I really like to know how these professor checked if the virus is dead after his light attack. I guess there is no proof of his theory. Perhaps his brother has a UV light factory...

UV can be effective but I think it requires a bit more power and coverage than this one.  One would think being a professor he would have done a test with sampling results?

Unfortunately, UV water purifiers need to be run in tandem with filters, otherwise nasty oocytes such as giardia and cryptosporidia visit the intestinal tract. Your travails in Buriram would feel like a week in Hoo the Hef's Playboy mansion in comparison.

Me, I keep it simple. If I want clean water, I boil it.

Yes, if you have space, air clothes and bedsheets outside in that free UV.

Get yourself out in it too, free Vit-D can't hurt.
