Engineer crashes LA train near U.S. Navy hospital ship deliberately, prosecutor says

(Reuters) Prosecutors say the engineer derailed his train near the U.S Navy hospital ship, Mercy, in Los Angeles because he believed coronavirus and the hospital are part of a government plot.

 

He is said to have told police “You only get this chance once. The whole world is watching. I had to. People don’t know what’s going on here. Now they will.” He faces up to 20 years in jail.

I think anything close to half of Americans wanting more corona chaos is way out of the ball park.  There are always a few nutters on both ends of the political spectrum that believe conspiracies and want the revolution to begin.  But they are a tiny percentage.

Certainly those showing up to church on Sunday would fall into this group. I doubt they number 50% of the population though.

Well said Tug. I'm sure there are a lot of pastors of these hand waving crazies trying really hard to make sense and explain how Their Lord and the Holy Spirit allowed congregations in the US to get mass infected!

After all these nutter leaders for years and years have been telling/preaching that God's word says to these crazy filled congregations how God has placed them in a place of being special, His Chosen Saved Children and how The Spirit empowers them above and beyond others must be quite a task for the leaders of such flocks.

This kind of reaction does not surprise me. The media is whipping the public up into a frenzy, and they are attempting to promote this as the Zombie Apocalypse. This is a serious event. Surely the world will be quite different when we emerge from this dreadful economic shutdown. But, it its not the end of the world.

The funny, and sad, part about this story is - did he really think his locomotive was going to reach the hospital ship?  Does he, an engineer, not comprehend they only ruin on tracks?  ????

He should get extra prison time for threatening a hospital ship. He should have double-checked his dosage of whatever it was he on that day.
