Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) says the first of two surgical mask-manufacturing machines it is importing from China arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Sunday night (April 5).

The machines will be installed in a factory to produce free face masks for medical personnel and ordinary Thais, being built on the orders of CP’s senior chairman Dhanin Chearavanont.

The factory construction is more than 80 per cent completed, said company officials.

“The imported surgical mask machine can produce 50,000 masks a day, and we expect the second machine to arrive on April 9 [Thursday],” the officials said.

“After the two machines are installed, the factory’s production capacity will be 100,000 pieces per day, or 3 million pieces per month.”

Over the past three weeks, CP has been rushing to finish construction of the factory and its cleanroom.

“Today (April 6), the mask machine will be sent to the factory for assemblage and testing,” the officials said.

“We will teleconference with foreign experts for information on how to install and configure the machines.”

The officials added that the importation process had been difficult because countries around the world were now competing to equipment to fight their own Covid-19 battles.

“CP was forced to adapt to the situation by transporting the machine through various methods until we achieved success today,” the officials added.

And here is an excerpt of the teleconference with the experts.. ????

I think CP has enough money to buy a couple of full automated machines similar to this one:

Couple of weeks ago there was a report in a big newspaper in Bangkok ???? that such a machine was 71.000 USD before (now not available I suppose) and return of investment is now in 12-14 days production time or so....

It is like printing money....

And who is going to maintain those machines? Somchai didn't magically suddenly become a true tradesman just because of corona.

Lots of excellent Thai tradesmen in the offshore and shipping industry, sure there are many working in the Eastern Seaboard also ????

CP chicken group understands that this is the future. Also there's a huge potential with regards to 2.5 PM air pollution now that Thailand is home to the worst pollution (of which their massive agro business fully participates) on the planet and it's only going to get worse.

Air purifiers are another area to invest. 156 AQI in Hua Hin this morning. Just another day in Paradise.????

You anti-Thai racism really does get tiresome.  You just can't resist popping up with snide comments on every thread.

Thailand has a massive manufacturing industry.  Huge factories making goods for the world.  Seriously, give it a rest.
