Free Money Transfer To Thailand

Featured Replies

We found a free way to transfer money here and I thought that I'd pass the info on...

I am a non-American but I signed up for an ETRADE account in USD. (Fairly easy to do at etrade.com). I also signed up for their ETRADE debit/visa card.

I withdrew 10 000 baht at a SCB ATM. ETRADE withdrew $286 from my account. (For an exchange rate of almost 1USD= 35 baht). The amazing thing was that I was charged no fees (by either the ATM or ETRADE). ETRADE has been marketing this lately and I can confirm that it has worked.

Gone are the days of SWIFT / Wire transfers!

Cheers

Been doing it for years with my Credit Union savings/checking account. No ATM fees what so ever.

I believe you are talking about this, copied from the E*Trade website:

Unlimited ATM fee refunds for customers maintaining a balance of $50,000 or more in combined E*TRADE Securities and E*TRADE Bank accounts or by making at least 30 stock or options trades per quarter.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

This isn't a money transfer. Its an ATM card, Useless for qualifying for visas. But free is good!

You are right, it is an ATM transfer, not a wire transfer. My mistake......

I certainly don't have a combined $50 000 balance or 30 trades per quarter so I think that it must apply to all accounts now.
