10 items you should carry when stepping out

Though we are all practising social distancing and trying to stay at home, here are 10 items that should be kept handy:

Hand-sanitising gel: Carry a 70-per-cent alcohol gel to clean your hands immediately after you touch anything outside the house.

Liquid soap: Washing hands is all important at this time, and using liquid soap will not make your skin dry.

Face mask: It is important to wear one when outside because not only will it protect you from respiratory droplets, it will also prevent you from touching your face with dirty hands.

Wet wipes: Useful for keeping hands clean or for use in public toilets.

Rubber gloves: Will protect you from directly touching risky spots.

Cutlery: Using a serving spoon will reduce the risk of infection.

Straw: Using a personal straw is safer because the virus can be transmitted via people’s hands.

Personal food carrier: This will prevent you from sharing plates with others and cut down on your risk of catching the virus.

Supplements: Boost your immunity with vitamins and other supplements.

Thermometer: Always have an infrared thermometer handy to keep track of your body temperature.

Seems kind of over the top for a trip to a grocery store. I agree about the mask and gel. They post questionable info about the usual masks (not N95). They do not protect from virus but they do block your own spray getting out to others. Maybe they think people won't to wear them if they realize that wearing is for OTHERS, not you.

I've seen Bodegas in NYC with less items.  Yeah, the vitamins sure are necessary to carry.

Don't touch your face.

Yes, carry hand gel.  This virus spreads like crazy.  It is incredibly easy to get if it's where you are.  Think about covid as dog excrement that is smeared everywhere, everything you touch or is handed to you.  Even plastic bags from the grocery store, if applicable.

Washing your hands should take around 30 seconds or so.  Wash throughly, including your wrists.

Be vigilant, very vigilant and you will be just fine.  ????

Great advice if you want and can afford to live like Howard Hughes. Where I live, the "mask of invincibility" seems to be doing the trick. Worn around the chin. Zero social distancing. People swarming vendors at local markets. But they are wearing the mask! Albeit improperly. Some have even assured me they cannot be infected due to attending local temple with over 1000 ppl in attendance and being sprinkled with "holy water." Bless them. This is far from over.

Sharing plates with others? What others??! There shouldn't be any others. Stay at home, order takeout, eat in. Don't be a fool.

People are infectious well before any symptoms and there are rising suspicions that many infectious people won't ever show symptoms. Therefore thermometers simply won't make a difference in protecting a crowd. Masks make a bit more sense but only if they are worn and disposed of correctly, if they actually stop viral particles (pff2 certified or better), and if they don't have a breathing valve allowing for air, coughs and sneezes to just fly out unfiltered. Without any rules and checks for masks in place they provide nothing but a false sense of safety.

You may well be right. They are experiencing secondary infection in China from those returning from abroad. Under original projections this might have gone on for a couple more months, if it takes much longer we are in all sorts of trouble as everything begins to collapse, starting with the economy and food supply. Total anarchy would ensue..... unless we find a vaccine or a cure.

Cutlery & straws? Don't tell me it's one cup and ..

Stepping out is a phrase meaning courting or going out with someone.

I don't think I'd want to take all those items on a date!

It should have a pen on it. It's not only incomplete but a bit unpractical. Well, I can see how bringing your own dishes will be good for many local working people as often they will eat together and share dishes.

Really glad to hand sanitizer being available at places when you walk in.

Or we decide that punishing 7 Billion people for the possible risk of a few million is utter nonsense.

take a coupla empty shopping bags in the car,

and hold off getting all your scripts done in the one visit

( i.e. always have a coupla unfulfilled scripts handy)

they might give you some sort of alibi, as to why you are out on the street...

You forgot the AMEX card.

personal food carrier.  lunch box. ????

You're right masks won't protect you from the virus but what they will do is help reduce the virul load and aid in stopping you touching your mouth and nose.

It's not quite that simple. Maybe the list should be expanded, actually.

Not money?  Not personal ID?

Empty shopping bags, a mask, money and my keys. The malls supply hand sanitiser.

It's really nice to have the voice of experience guiding us through these troubled times.
