GeorgeCross
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3078840/coronavirus-low-antibody-levels-raise-questions-about Quote The researchers said they were surprised to find that the antibody “titer” value in about a third of the patients was less than 500, a level that might be too low to provide protection. “About 30 per cent of patients failed to develop high titers of neutralising antibodies after Covid-19 infection. However, the disease duration of these patients compared to others was similar," they said. The team also found that antibody levels rose with age, with people in the 60-85 age group displaying more than three times the amount of antibodies as people in the 15-39 age group. The low amounts of antibodies could affect herd immunity, resistance to the disease among the general population to stop its spread. gonna need a vaccine, its looking like herd immunity will not work. begs the question is a vaccine even possible if the body cannot produce large quantities of antibodies? ExpatOilWorker
Just like many of us have lost friends and family to cancer, a year from now we will know people who perish from the Chinese Civid19.
DrTuner
Ok, so the antibodies don't last long. The CEO of Centivax guessed 8-10 weeks, how long has the lockdown there lasted now? Wuhan was 23rd January. 11 weeks ago. Those people were in hospital for how long? Could match. Here's the study: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.30.20047365v1 Looks like that was just after a couple of weeks in the hospital. Not enough time for the antibodies to disappear if they were there. Not good news and not really the data I was hoping to find. Still no good data on how long the "immunity" could last. Here's another kicker to the danglies: Quote We observed that elderly patients were more likely to induce higher titers of NAbs than younger patients. So the young are more likely to become carriers again. Ugh. This really is a boomer butcher. Edited April 8, 2020 by DrTuner
