Question about visa amnesty due to Covid

Featured Replies

Trying to get some information as my non B visa expires on the 23rd and the government announced visa amnesty until the 30th April due to the Covid. Does it mean I have to go to immigration on the 23rd or can I go on the 30th?

That depends upon what you have. Do you have a 90 day entry from a non-b visa or a one year extension of stay based upon working issued by immigration.

If a 90 day entry you do not have to do anything at immigration.

You can stay until the 30th (and maybe longer if they extend it), without the need to visit the immigration office.

But if you plan on getting a one year extension you might just do it now while the immigration offices are empty.

You have to apply for a new extension. Long term extensions are not included in the "amnesty".

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated

The info is wrong, this is not what the ministerial order or immigration's interpretation says.

You clearly have strong belief in this as indicated in similar current thread. I see it as mindless point scoring when people want simple water tight advice.

OP my advice would be same as ubonjoe.

Attend immigration for your annual extension. Even if jackdd is correct (I doubt it) what are you saving. At some point your 12 month extension will need to be applied for. Follow advice #6
