webfact
Commerce Ministry ready to hand over 10% of its budget By THE NATION The Commerce Ministry has allocated 10 per cent of its budget to help with the government’s battle to alleviate the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak, Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said on Friday (April 17). The move is part of the government’s policy to draw 10 per cent of each ministry’s budget to help ease the impact. Jurin said he has sent details of the 10 per cent budget transfer to the Budget Bureau. Boonyarit Kalyanamit, the Commerce Ministry’s permanent secretary, said part of the 10 per cent was taken from the remainder of the 2020 budget allocated to the ministry. He said these funds were earmarked for organising seminars, hiring advisers and for covering overseas study tours. The Commerce Ministry’s budget for the 2020 fiscal year stood at around Bt9 billion. Which cannot go ahead in the current climate anyway - how generous! Surely the central government should be re-allocating budgets to Covid-19 not individual ministries? However, It´s the first ministry that goes out with it, and that has to be seen as a good thing instead of the money mysteriously disappearing. Yes, the government should re-allocate the whole budget, due to that there are a lot of things standing still and allocated money is not being used for the right purposes. spidermike007
The nation is waiting for these guys to put their money where their mouths are. The first scheme had a rejection rate of over 80% of applicants and they still ran out of funds. There are millions of people here who are barely eating. Come on guys. Man up and do something for your people. Edited April 20, 2020 by spidermike007
