Thai media reported on a road accident early Saturday morning when an 18 wheel truck trailer transporting barley from a storage depot in Rom Klao to Nakhon Pathom crashed off the Thap Chang elevated road.

The truck should not have even been on the road as signage prevents its use by larger vehicles.

In addition the driver was speeding when he lost it at a bend and plunged down onto the Route 7 motorway below, said highways rep Sarawuth Songsiwilai.

Barley was strewn all over the place.

Dead at the scene was 40 year old Wijak D.

The accident occurred on Saturday just after 6 am.

nothing new, these idiot truck drivers drive as if they own the road and ignore all the road rules same as many of the car/bike drivers. I have seen them racing each other in traffic swerving in and out around other road users, they dont care  because they think the truck is a lot bigger so people will get out of their way, they cut corners all the time and will push cars off the road when it suits them. Trouble is many thais drive/ride exactly the same way, its nothing new and is to be expected as police refuse to go out on the roads and enforce the road rules

Som Nam Na! Highly fortunate he didn't take anyone else with him.

Apparently carrying a container owned by my old company.  Not a good advertisement.

Evergreen which always makes me think of Eva Green a French actress who played in Casino Royale one of the last James Bond.

Well at least the idiot only killed himself, probably yabard up to the eyeballs.

Barley was strewn all over the place. Som Nam Na !

Rather unusual, carrying loose barley in a shipping container! More usual to transport in open trucks:-

Nothings going to change until they all get educated on how to drive and how road rules work.

I bet he was all hopped up...

I reckon he knew the rules just fine, but chose to ignore them - zero sympathy from me

Threats from every direction including up was added to my staying alive skills years ago in this land that can crash into thin air ????

Should one be surprised? Notice the 1000bht fine warning! It should be 5000.

Always on my mind is who is responsible for this.

This man who does not care about road laws, or those people who do not care about enforcing these laws.

A law that is not enforced is the same as no law at all.....

So then, what are the laws on these roads...

We know laws are there to be obeyed and enforced.

Break the law and get caught and you pay the price.

Break the law and don't get caught and you might get away with it, albeit there is a risk each time you break the law, and this guy paid with his life, as I said earlier, lucky no one was on the motorway below.

As for law enforcement here, we all know there is a lack of it, hence the 60 + deaths each day on the roads pre Covid-19.

Problem with loads like cereal grains is they behave like a liquid if you corner too fast. It all moves and changes the center of gravity and over you go.

it is all the other nearby surviving drivers, who have to live with their anticipated last thoughts flashing thru their heads!
