People went out for some fresh air and exercise to the Lumpini Park as the park reopened on Sunday (May 3) after being closed for a month due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The government relaxed some lockdown regulations from Sunday.

Walking, running, and individual exercising are allowed, but use of exercise equipment in a public space remains prohibited. People going to the park must wear a mask, while staff will check the temperature of everyone before entering.

Air pollution levels are down so for the first time in six months people van actually breathe fresh air! It's a short lived privilege the locals are afforded until the burning resumes in November just in time for tourist season.

Normality resumes, sort of.

Are there freelancers lining the roads from 8pm onwards and child porn available at the market stall down the road (hidden video of a cop looking through the selection a year or so ago in the news).

Far more responsible park opening than seen in the US.

Not only everyone wearing a mask at all times and doing best to maintain social distancing (routes thru park should be one-way) but temperature taken at entry (see picture). Sometimes herd mentality has its uses.

Now only if one could to get a free viral test before entry on demand - that would round out the precautions.

I can only think of contamination as a reason for this?

  • 9 months later...

I am in Bangkok for a week soon and would like t know if their are lockers, or someone to look after your bag near gate 4 ( Silom )

Also, do you still have to run in a mask? I know you need a mask to enter but is everyone running in masks?

Thanks

Not sure about lockers (I've never seen any, but I've never used the toilet areas which is where they would likely be).  Very few people exercise in masks, and the checks at the entrances are far less thorough than they were.  Once you're in the park you can do as you please.  No one monitors mask wearing or social-distancing.
