Perfectly normal behaviour for your Fortuner driver whether he/she be Thai or Farang No need to bash just the foreigner Fortuner drivers there all as bad as each other Camrys' are almost as bad too! Back to the original question, I only really socialise with fellow Farangs in the office, outside of the office I mostly hang out with my Thai friends and (fiances') family. I generally don't go out of my way to avoid others...just that I never seem to find my path crossing that of other Farangs I know theres a couple of Farangs living in my village, occassionally say hi to them when i see them in passing...one has a nice Duke 996 parked out front of his house....lovely machine. Only time I ever see the undesirables is when I head off to the beach, but I know they aren't here for long so I just ignore them. Before moving here I lived in Paris for a couple of years and to be honest found that exactly the same kind of Farangs that people complain about here also exist there. Ignorant about french culture, can't be bothered to even try and learn a few words of the local language and arrogant as hel_l. What were we complaining about again? The mores and silly driving habits in LOS are pet peeves of mine too, but I can't limit them to one brand of car usually. Motorcycles on the other hand...... I had a Pick Up before, Tiger 4WD, it was ok actually, then I was in Khon Kaen and went into Toyota and they had a test drive Fortuner...I paid cash and jumped the queue and picked mine up the next day. Any answer to this is wild over-generalisation but broadly I think that by Thai standards we farang, both visitors and expats could do better. Our manners are too direct by Thai standards, we often look a complete mess, which really counts against us and there is a small minority who behave poorly by anyone's standards. To anyone such as myself living here, collective behaviour does matter as it reflects on all of us. We are accorded a special status by people in Thailand and I'm not sure we always deserve the excellent welcome we generally receive. We could do better, as the teacher said. Looks decent enough, don't see many around though, Toyota Fortuner owns that sector of the market. That may be the appeal to some people, not so many around.
