77kaoded reported that police, rescue and fire services were called after a leak of ammonia gas at an ice making factory in Samrong.

The factory is opposite the north Samrong police station in Muang district, Samut Prakan south east of Bangkok.

A valve had been shut off by the time police arrived.

Residents in the nearby vicinity were evacuated to a safe area.

No injuries were reported but people complained of sore throat, eyes and nose.

An investigation is underway after the leak around 8.30pm Monday.

... I'm looking forward to a re-enactment, when the first investigator reopens the valve; to see if it recreates the scenario faithfully 1893545794_isaberm.gif.b9139523caa45898d875f7e132e03b4b.gif

Non flammable very safe refrigerant no leak detector needed, you can smell it a mile away.

Used in large commercial operations for these reasons, cheap too.

Ammonia is considered a high health hazard because it is corrosive to the skin, eyes, and lungs. Exposure to 300 parts per million (ppm) is immediately dangerous to life and health. Ammonia is also flammable at concentrations of approximately 15% to 28% by volume in air.
