Man with fetish for stealing flip-flops arrested

A fake rescue volunteer in Nonthaburi province was arrested on Sunday (May 24) for stealing 126 flip-flops, which he revealed to be a sexual fetish.

 

On May 22, a couple complained to Bang Si Muang Police Station that three flip-flops were stolen by a man dressed like a rescue volunteer.

 

Police tracked him down from a security camera and arrested Theerapat, 24. He explained that he had bought a uniform to disguise himself when he stole.

 

Theerapat said he had stolen flip-flops since he was 13 years old to smell while masturbating. He was arrested once and went to see a therapist but it did not work.

 

His relative said he had been admitted to a mental institution before but he had not taken the pills lately and it might have triggered the symptoms.

Interesting it's listed as 126 flip-flops, but not 63 pairs.

Were there a number of 'odd' shoes - does the guy perhaps have an interest in acrotomophilia?

If he got as far as finding a girlfriend, then at one point he could perhaps claim to have had her 'on all threes'.

    Except for the theft... the smelly flip flop fetish is harmless and personal. No one gets hurt. He should offer to pay people for their smelly flip flops and have permission to take them first though.

At one time, during the 1960s and 70s, flip flops and thongs were the same thing.  It is only in recent years that the word thong has been applied to a piece of female underwear.

The title is misleading as it is incorrect. In all of my years as a Clinical Psychologist, I have never heard of a person having a "fetish for stealing flip-flops...". A fetish is a form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc. The act of stealing cannot be a "fetish" as that is an action not an object.
