Sanook published a story that effectively said people are now free to go on interprovincial travel in Thailand, but without total freedom.

For example you can travel to the beach - but you can't go on it.

NSC secretary-general Gen Somsak Rungsita suggested that by and large people were free to travel about the kingdom but some provinces might be asking questions about why people were going there and how long they intended to stay.

"You can go...but not with total freedom," he said.

Forget going on the beach just yet, he said, but World Heritage sites were all open.

The general reiterated that staying home was still best to protect against the spread of coronavirus.

But if you really needed to go, go.

No One Is to Blame

You can look at the menu, but you just can't eat
You can feel the cushion, but you can't have a seat
You can dip your foot in the pool, but you can't have a swim
You can feel the punishment, but you can't commit the sin

And you want her, and she wants you
We want everyone
And you want her and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame
You can build a mansion, but you just can't live in it
You're the fastest runner but you're not allowed to win
Some break the rules, and let you cut the cost
The insecurity is the thing that won't get lost

And you want her, and she wants you
We want everyone
And you want her and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame

You can see the summit but you can't reach it
It's the last piece of the puzzle but you just can't make it fit
Doctor says you're cured but you still feel the pain
Aspirations in the clouds but your hopes go down the drain

And you want her, and she wants you
We want everyone
And you want her and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame

No one ever is to blame
No one ever is to blame

Everybody wants to make an announcement so they feel important - problem is they are not all on the same page and it just creates confusion - a very common occurrence here in Thailand - too many people think they are in charge

He does read the papers, and they don't officially open until Monday, June 1st, so he was correct at the time of statement:

Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome announced at city hall on May 29, that 9 Pattaya beaches and recreational areas will be opened June 1.

Meanwhile, many companies jumping the gun have given their employees a 5 day holiday, starting yesterday and ending on Wednesday June 3rd.

One can imagine the traffic on the roads... and the social distancing during all these family reunions...

The reopening comes with so many restrictions and hassles that you don't feel like visiting most of the open places, instead you'd rather stay home... which is probably the objective.

Meanwhile the economy is sinking deeper and deeper and deeper...

Well, yeah, but not all economy.Thai stock market -SET remains very, very strong.I am not sure why,but it is very resilient.

Perfectly summed up! My Thai staff have confirmed this has been standard operating procedure for Govt Depart for a long long time.

Oh yes yes yes. freedom, there was on expert on that.. Oh yes, J.J.

Man is born free and everywhere he is in chains.

But then he was wrong about this one:
People in their natural state are basically good. But this natural innocence, however, is corrupted by the evils of society.
Darn, some people are natural born psychopaths and killers.
And right about this one:
And this one:
I have never believed that man's freedom consisted in doing what he wants, but rather in never doing what he does not want to do.

With all this, seems like I am free not to be free... or something like that...

I was under the same impression in regard to going to the embassy there to apply form my new passport but my wife phoned her friend who is on the Phuket covid team and she was told that once I have a date/time she can let them know and they can organize a pass so we can go over and come back on the day, you have to have a reasonable excuse to get the pass she was told and renewing your passport is considered  reasonable  enough to get it, big releief

Of course it's a case of left hand doesn't know what the right hand doing ! Not exactly joined up Gov in Thailand, as many of us dealing with bureaucracy know! What you're told are the rules on a Monday not true in a Tuesday

Cut him some slack... the man invented the aqualung, and went on to write some of The Stranglers best songs.
