The international crew of Avatar 2 have been given special permission to enter New Zealand to begin filming the blockbuster sequel – despite the country’s border being closed to all foreign nationals.

On 16 March, prime minister Jacinda Ardern closed New Zealand’s borders as a precaution against the spread of Covid-19.

The country’s strict lockdown appears to have worked, with fewer than 1,500 cases of coronavirus and 22 deaths.

New Zealanders are now enjoying a loosened lockdown, with many aspects of normal life, such as work and school, returning.

what if one or more of them is infected and they create a growing cluster ? sure make NZ leaders look stupid ! (altho what they already did goes a long way towards that)

The UK government seems to have a monopoly on looking stupid at the moment.

  • The "sex" ban. (Just google it...).
  • The "conga line". (90 minutes spent voting today - because online voting is too modern for the UK government, so instead people who should be shielded or self-isolating have to travel to Westminster and stand in a socially distanced queue to vote. (Slight problem for the MPs from Northern Ireland as they couldn't fly to England - so couldn't get there to vote).

I fully expect the Ministry of Silly walks to be used almost universally by foreign countries to try and explain how weird Westminster is. Mr Rees-Mogg being the person who introduced the voting in person requirement making it even easier to mock.

The entire crew will be in isolation for 14 days so that argument flies out the window.

But did they travel as a group alone ?

Right  up there with Chariots  of  Fire ,  Boxing Helena, and Howard  the Duck as worst  movie  of  all  time.

They still haven't started filming? By the time they finish this film Elon Musk would have gone to Pandora for real.
