Governors told to get tourist attractions ready for phase 4 of lockdown easing

Ministry of Interior has instructed provincial governors nationwide to manage tourist attractions in preparation for the fourth phase of lockdown relaxation.

 

 

Chatchai Promlert, permanent secretary for Interior, said on Saturday (June 13) that after Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had ordered related authorities to manage beach attractions, the ministry has instructed provincial governors nationwide to manage their tourist attractions as follows:

 

1 Prepare tourist attractions, such as natural, community, and historical tourist attractions to welcome tourists with focus on managing tourism attractions to drive the economy and prevent the spread of Covid-19.

 

2 Arrangs areas in tourist attractions, such as stores, venues, rest and event areas, and parking space to enable people to maintain social distancing.

 

3 Manage traffic to reduce congestion.

 

4 Implement measures to contain the spread of Covid-19, such as maintaining cleanliness in tourism attractions and setting up hand sanitising checkpoints.

5 Urging entrepreneurs and tourists to use ThaiChana platform and creating awareness on the importance and benefits of using the app to enable the government to track Covid-19 patients.

6.  Feel free to put up signs prohibiting non-Thais from entering. But, do not post signs which read, "No Chinese."

The bars are the tourist attractions for most normal non Chinese. The places where they shuttle the Chinese to to buy overly expensive souvenirs and nick knacks to take home are theirs.

There will be plenty of people throughout Thailand desperate to get out and about, look at the beaches of the holiday weekend just passed.

 

Tourists do not need to be from overseas.

Yeah, I noticed Pattaya yesterday, there at least 100 on the beach!!

Phase 4 lockdown easing .....  how many phases ?   anyway it's good to hear as we all move forward. It's really been great,  ... haven't seen any chinese for weeks. 

Things are getting busy ,  i went to KFC yesterday and there must have been 4 people getting some chicken.

yesterday decide to visit the local market, at the entry was somebody taking people's temperature and spraying hand washer I follow as others did and once inside realized that everybody was on top of one another absolutely no social distancing  whatsoever and the government person checking the ins and outs was not wearing a mask nor did he give a hoot about the social distancing.... I know this are not news but why do they keep wasting time or sxxx like that, why check temperature at a out door market and why do the government keeps mentioning it as above

With phase 4 starting tomorrow Monday, and the order to ready tourist attractions given yesterday, the governors have only 2 days to put their sh.t together!

 

Pity those who have to reduce traffic congestion in such a short time...

 

Will they be court martialed if they fail?

 

Otherwise the only thing missing in this ambitious battle plan are the tourists.

 

These days, some Thais are moving around the country, but that is because children are still in holidays.

 

Once back to school, it is going to be the big sleep for many months...

 

Make sure tickets if issued are correctly printed so that Tourists (AKA Farangs ) can have the over priced tickets .

Pushing domestic tourism. Foreigners no longer required

Bangla is still a big mess, Soi Kepsap has been demolished. They need to hurry up to get Phuket's attractions ready until tmw. Not much else left

"Tourists do not need to be from overseas"... So maybe find another Planet as the one you are on is not the same as everybody else. Most of the people on the beach were probably locals getting away for a break from there empty shops, bars, and the restaurants, if you have a good memory, they would be the places that tourists frequent, so, "not" the hundreds people that were expected. Remember! local people have not worked for 3 months and more months to follow.

I understand where the people will come from, obviously you do not!

 

The people that have not worked for 3 months seemed to have plenty of money to come out on the Holiday weekend just passed or did you miss that?

Don't worry the pricing difference is #1 on the agenda.

Maybe raise the price to 600% more than locals.

TAT calculates....... No tourists for 6 months = raise the price 600%

To get any movement on domestic tourism you have to either give a voucher, cut the price by 75% or give money back.

Thais will queue all night & all day for free, but pay full price LOL

One positive side to the lock-down is that it's given the government and private owners of these tourist attractions, time to get essential maintenance done. 

I imagine they're all 'Ship shape and Bristol fashion' now, ready for their grand re-openings.

Or maybe not.

1- a weekend at the beach doesn't cost a lot. Just petrol for the pickup.

2- only a minority of people didn't work last 2-3 months. The majority did work (yes!) and so has easily money enough for a weekend.

Were there domestic tourists there or not?

I have to ask. Do most domestic tourists stay in the 5 star hotels and go shopping

like foreign tourists? Do most local tourists go to the fancy restaurants? I doubt that most

Thais spend money like the foreign tourists do, and that means that there are still

lots of Thais out of work, and many Hotels will stay closed, and other tourist business like tour buses

not being used. I am happy that the Thai people can now travel throughout Thailand

and enjoy being a tourist in other parts of Thailand, it is a start to better days for some.

No easy answer.

In Pattaya there are Thai tourists staying in the Hilton or their own condo, and buying in luxury shops from Terminal 21 or Central Festival...

and there are pickups with the whole family in the back who park near a beach and sleep in their pickup and on the beach before leaving the next day...

No idea on the ration between these 2 categories.

 Take the bus .

The wife and I were at Chatuchak last weekend. They seem to have declared Corona over. No one's bothering with check ins/outs. The temp scanners don't even work. They're holding them to everyone's head for less than a second and just waving them in. Being one of the few farangs I got a "Oh, farang! Thank you teacher!" Haha. One of the "quality tourists" they so desperately need back, I'm sure. We enjoyed coffees and fish cakes in the air con restaurant.

 

Social distancing, what's that? Same on the BTS when we went back. Then Lotus On Nut was a complete madhouse. It looked like that Minneapolis Target that was looted, except they were conducting normal business. So much for the new normal. Looking forward to getting back to the pub and the footy again this weekend.

In Klong Wan the Wing 5 Golf Course has been closed since March. The back gate is closed. But guards are still in the front. Nobody seems to know when the GC & Manao Beach (all inside the Royal Thai Air Force base) will open. Yesterday we had a great lunch as beer was finally available.
