Wanchalearm Satsaksit

Cambodian authorities have not found any clues on the disappearance of Thai pro-democracy activist Wanchalearm Satsaksit, 37, who was abducted from his apartment in Phnom Penh on June 4, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Ministry spokesman Cherdkiat Atthakor said that Cambodian authorities had found information on him entering the country several times between 2014-15 but there was no evidence of his visa being extended since 2017.

The Thai embassy in Phnom Penh had sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia requesting coordination with relevant agencies regarding the disappearance of Wanchalearm, including requesting information to help find him.

In response to the letter, Cambodia had informed that Wanchalearm had travelled in and out of Cambodia several times during 2014-15 and had requested a visa for temporary stay until December 31, 2017. After that, Wanchalearm had not submitted the visa extension request.

Cambodian authorities do not have any information or clues about Wanchalearm's disappearance. However, the relevant agencies are currently in the process of investigating and the embassy will monitor progress and work closely with the Cambodian authorities in this case, the spokesman said.

I am not sure how to read this. Do they mean that is a good thing or not? ????

It isn't easy for the Thai and Cambodian authorities to find out what has happened to Wanchalaerm if the perpetrators came from another part of the world.

Best thing to do here is keep the spotlight on Cambodia’s investigation and keep making them lose face when it comes to their stupid excuses. We’ll probably never know what happened here for sure, but countries like Cambodia might think twice before giving up their sovereignty so angry little men can spread fear.

I fear they will never find anything. The dossier will be on a desk or a shelve  somewhere for a while. The media will lose it's attention and then the case can remain pending for a while and archived as unresolved. They are not going to.do any real investigation,  these countries know when to look the other way when a neighbour wants to perform a clandestine operation.

Check the oil drums in the river

When you're not looking you're unlikely to find !

Did we expect any?

Given that both countries are now effectively vassal states of China , peehaps somebody should talk to Beijing.

Ask Prayut.

Just hope he wasn't tortured too much before he died. Personally, in that situation, I'd just die on the street, no way I'm gonna let anybody force me into a car or whatever.

Rephrase that to 'Who living in another part of the world' (somewhere in the west, Europe, Germany).

Amnesty International invites supporters around the world to send a letter to "Hun Sen" for Cambodia to investigate the disappearance of 'Wanchalearm Satsaksit'.
