No. Economists may disagree on policies (I.e. is it better to stimulate demand or to induce businesses to invest more?), sometimes on interpretations, but facts are facts. GDP, etc... are official figures. There isn't a right wing GDP figure which is different from the left wing figure. Trumps GDP growth figures were good (around the same as Obama), employment decreasing figures were good (around same level of yearly decrease as Obama). Nobody says the opposite. The difference is that it has been paid by more deficit and debt. These are also official figures, not left wing or right wing figures. Trade deficit is either growing or decreasing, there is no right wing or left wing way to look at it. It's either + or -. Trump inherited a growing economy, and made it grow at around the same pace. I agree with you that there can be endless discussions about the influence of an inherited situation on a following presidential term. However, facts don't confirm the Trumpers' claim that the economy was worse during Obama's tenure. It was more or less the same. Facts don't show that trade has improved. It's more or less the same deficit, just increasing a bit. As usual, you accuse others of being biased and not being able to consider opposing facts and evidence, but you never show any. 3
johnpetersen
It seems like he's possibly even finding himself at odds with a majority of Texans. At least according to the latest Fox News poll. Fox News Poll: Texas tossup, Biden-Trump a one-point race Texas is a tossup, as Democrat Joe Biden tops President Donald Trump by a percentage point, 45-44 percent, in a new Fox News survey of Texas registered voters. Ten percent are up for grabs, and this small subgroup of voters is more likely to disapprove than approve of Trump’s job performance by 52-34 percent. The good news for Trump: he bests Biden by 51-45 percent among those “extremely” motivated to vote in the election. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-texas-tossup-biden-trump-a-one-point-race Edited June 26, 2020 by johnpetersen

If you subscribe to the absurd notion that calling Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" is "racist", or questioning Obama's birth place is "racist", then your definition of racism is clearly different to mine. The amount of lies and fake news in that VOX article was nauseating. It is no wonder people hate Trump if they believe the bile written about him. Seeing as he is supposedly running against Biden, how about you defend all the racist things Joe has said and done in his political career? He's on the road to loser city. So well deserved. Firstly, they are not citing things 45 has definitely said done in the correct context. The article is fake news. In other words, they have taken things loosely based on fact and spun them to conjure up an op-ed to support a narrative that Trump is a racist. I am NOT going to delve into this any deeper because frankly I don't have the time to waste, but I will cite one example, although there are many. The article repeats the debunked and false claim that Trump said that white supremacists in Charlotsville were very fine people. Anyway moving on. Secondly, whilst I may (or may not) disagree with the rest of your post, we are entitled to our opinions in a free world. It is possible to disagree and discuss without being unpleasant about it. Jingthing
How about an interesting related speculative question? I think it's clear to all rational people that if the election was held today, 45 would lose and quite possibly lose by a landslide. There is strong polling evidence for that. Massive leads for Biden in swing states, etc. But the election isn't being held today. But here's the fun question. Supposing republicans start to feel that associating with 45 means their party will be massacred. Losing not only the white house but all of congress as well. So what if they decided to actually do something about it? Talking about replacing 45 for the election. So who would help them? Pence, I don't think so. He's just a 45 yes man straight version of Anderson Cooper. Cruz? Kind of looks like Dr. Evil these days. John Kasich? A nice fellow no doubt but too "rino" for most republicans. Rubio? OK, maybe. Nikki Haley. She went all in for 45 recently. Tainted. Believe it or not, I think the best shot for republicans in the very unlikely event of replacing 45 for the election is ... Jeb Bush.
