Popular Post geovalin
Cambodia Permanent Representative to the United Nation in Geneva said he considers the remarks by the delegation of the UK at the Human Rights Council as “arrogant”, after comments were made on the level of freedom of expression and democracy in the Kingdom. In his response at the resumed 43rd Session General Debate of the Human Rights Council, Ambassador An Sokkhoeurn said on Friday, Cambodia notes with deep regret that agenda item 10 in technical cooperation and capacity building talks has been hijacked for political purposes. UK International Ambassador for Human Rights Rita French said the UK strongly supports the vital role of technical cooperation. She said the international community must challenge states with egregious human rights situations. “We urge Cambodia to take further steps to restore democracy and freedom of expression. We appreciate cooperation with special rapporteurs and technical work with Office of the High Commission for Human Rights,” she said. Mr Sokkhoeurn said Cambodia was not placed in the current agenda as it will be presented in the 45th session of the council in accordance with resolution on advisory service and technical assistance for Cambodia. “Therefore, strict observance of the conference’s agenda is imperative if we are to avoid wasting the council’s resources,” he said. He said Cambodia cherishes the freedom of expression in line with the law and as a result has a total of more than 1,000 printed, online media, TV and radio stations some of which are openly critical of the government. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50736455/cambodia-upset-over-arrogant-remarks-by-uk/

Freedom for gov stop opposition leader returning to the country , lock up opponents , freedom to allow foreign state, or even assist it to kidnap someone with a statement that it's ' nothing to do with us' . All this cover about allowing websites to be critical ! Is that the best example you have Mr Sokkhouern of ' human rights' . A fascist state and fake democracy! Yes, but the Hun Sen family are vastly increasing their wealth and turning their country into a fiefdom totally controlled by their dynasty. And who put this former Khmer Rouge terrorist in charge? And what on earth made them expect a different result?
