Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan was officially handed over the post of core coalition party Palang Pracharat’s leader on Monday (June 22).

Government chief whip Wirat Rattanaset, who is also Palang Pracharat member, said the party executives visited the general in person to hand him the new position, instead of having him come to the party headquarters on Tuesday.

The executives who visited Prawit on Monday included Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Justice Minister Somsak Thepsutin, Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Thammanat Prompow and Education Minister Nattapol Teepsuwan.

With “General Rolex” another dinosaur has joined the club.

At the age of 74, he is in the high risk group for Covid-19.

Borders will stay closed forever.

Now you said it. My thoughts for some time already. The real reasons for the panic. To hell with the economy, it is only secondary.

They chose a man just oozing with talent and integrity,a rank outsider with a deeply intellectual and all inclusive political philosophy and who always put the needs of the populace in front of himself.

Then they lost him in the duty free shop at the airport...

Thailand not have Democracy.

Thailand have Democrazy.

Prayut lacks a mandate from the people since he did not run for election. Also, he is the sole PM candidate nominated by Phalang Pracharat, which failed to win a majority of seats in the March election and thereby has little in the way of legitimacy to form a government.

Prayut, who is Prawit’s junior military classmate, has been pressured to suspend his right-hand man from the post after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) initiated an investigation of Prawit’s possession of about 25 luxury watches, some of which reportedly cost Bt3 million.

I know he's getting on a bit, but this gives the impression he could almost be incapable of doing anything for himself.

Oh, hang on a moment.

He must be the most surprised man in Thailand as only last week he was denying all the stories linking him to leadership.
