Looks like Madame Tussauds wax museum statues of all those people consider to be racist will have to be melted down because of this whole snowflake woke movement.  Looks like another business will fold.....so sad

Social distancing and prebooking will kill those type of places anyway.

I can see why this statue needs to be removed, white man on a horse and below an Arican and a native American.

To me it shows all three in the manner they moved about in life, Teddy on his horse and his friends walking.  Teddy was a rough rider, and rode a horse whenever he could.  Would the Queen of England o

Well, they banned Gollywogs. Andy Pandy was a misogynist, and cruel to Teddy. Zerbee highly controversial, Nogin the Nog a pagan, and Captain Pugwash was a potential slaver with his all white pirate crew.

Of course, please remember racism cannot apply to anything anti white. That's understandably caused by white oppression and white privilege.

Looks to me like they are marching with him. He was the leader! No matter what his color the leader should/would be above, front and center. Roosevelt was very much an abolitionist and abhorred slavery. Let's just modify it and put the Indian and blackman on a horse. It won't matter how you change it, people will have their own interpretation. Leave the statue alone.

I'm against removing it too. History is unchangeable. Should focus on the present and shaping the future. How fragile, shallow and "pussified" the world today. :post-4641-1156693976:

Quite so.

Coming soon, The Assault on Mt.Rushmore.

It will be to Anglo-Saxon America what Masada was to the Zealots... their last stand.

Next they'll be reinforcing the bleat, that even the horse itself was caste beneath him!

If they did modify to show the others on a horse too

- they'll say it shows the 2 horses were stolen...

Racism was a GLOBAL phenomenon throughout history. All countries were racists (and some still are). People who think it is only a white characteristic or due to white privilege didn't learn history or know that white slaves continued to be traded in Africa and others continued long after it was abolished in the U.S. The real sickness is the ignorance of the radical mob who want to erase history, rather than learn it, and be educated upon it, and be reminded of it.

Racism will always be here, you can't make it go away by destroying statues or graffiti on the streets. I worked a bit on the east coast and the blacks there are on a whole different level of racism towards whites than on the west coast.

Am I not allowed to dislike someone who happens not to be white. Their color may have nothing to do with it but their attitude might. As an employer am I going to hire a black who won't do as he's told because he feels the job is beneath him and whitey is out to get him. And if the white man fires the black man, well that's racist. It's time we hire, admit to college the best candidate based on ability and smarts. But wait that's racist as well, seems the black man can't compete on a level playing field. I believe its the liberals who advocate Affirmative  Action that has destroyed all the progress the black man has attained.

It's the attitude of the Black Man that's his own worst enemy. Anyone who thinks this blm movement is helping the black mans cause is mistaken.

Racism does continue to persist in some countries but there are not many racist leaders who got their reputation from things they say and do. Unfortunately Trump is in this infamous list which include Netanyahu, Putin, Kim, Mugabe and the 2WW villain.

Yeah, this statue always seemd offensive when I walked past it. It represents many of the horrible things we did.

I'm with Ben Stiller, replace it with a statue of Robin Williams.

Strange how the meaning of "racism" has changed in the last thirty years or so, so that to say what was once accepted as common sense and Christian (viz: ALL lives matter) has now become "racist".

Ironically, this disgusting virtue signalling by whites who are so weak of mind that they HAVE to join in the moronic new theology of "black man good"/ "white man bad" is bound to lead eventually to a terrible U-turn and destroy all the gains made by Blacks over the last 60 years.

I remember many years ago an incident that happened whilst I was holidaying in Cleethorpes, a man beat his wife with a wooden pole about the head, nobody intervened. A while later a policeman who was passing tried to break up the melee and he himself was set upon by the man and beaten senseless, nobody tried to help, infact some actually laughed. The final straw was when the crocodile ate all the sausages.

I agree 100% that the gains of the blacks are being destroyed every day with what I see happening.

Some statues should go but reasonable lines need to be drawn.

I think all statues glorifying pro slavery confederate generals need to go. They were built long after the Civil War to prop up white supremacism.

But this is getting ridiculous now. George Washington stays. It's doubtful that the USA as an admittedly flawed democracy would even exist without him. Jefferson stays. Christopher Columbus stays. What are they going to do? Change the name of the District of Columbia?

I do understand the issues with this Teddy Roosevelt statue but I think it belongs on the side of the line of statues that can stay.

People should focus on the confederate civil war stuff. Otherwise that movement will be diluted and invite a backlash.

Christopher Colombus was an incredible ass. If anyone should go, it is him. He was a brutal dictator and enslaver, subjugating those he came into contact with. Forcing them into slavery to find gold that he could send back to Spain to finance his expeditions. As it became clear there were no huge gold stashes to plunder, he became truly nasty. Had to be called back to Spain to be chastised due to the complaints against him. Was allowed to return to Hispaniola and became even more of a tyrant.  Was thrown in the dungeon back in Spain for his crimes. Was finally allowed one final voyage to the new world on the condition he stayed away from Hispaniola where he was almost universally loathed.

If anyone's statue deserves to be torn down it is his. He was the original enslaver in the Americas. Just because they were native Americans and not black does not mean he gets a pass.  You can't get rid of other icons of slavery and leave him standing.

I'm waiting for Queen Victoria to do a belly flop

Instead of whining about what happened before, the statues can be seen as an accolade to how society has advanced.

Since everyone seems to be complaining about history, let's ask the black protestors if they'd like to return to their ancestral homes in Ghana, Ivory Coast, NIgeria and Cameroon (among others). In those countries black lives don't matter at all as many are slaughtered by their own people in the most horrific ways. If I compare present day West Africa to present day USA, I know where I'd rather be. Just the fact that all these people have time and resources to enable them to waste all this time protesting all day and night shows just how good things are. They don't have to slave away trying to make a living - it's all comes on a plate in the form of government handouts.

While we're at it, we should also ask the white protestors if they'd like to return to Europe. Even the whites all over Europe in most countries went through incredibly barbarous times to arrive at the present.

Once they have torn down every statue, they can burn down all public libraries and remove all record of history lest someone take offense to something that happened in the past.
