The Australian and German governments have extended their support to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s emergency cash transfer programme for poor and vulnerable households during COVID-19. The support was voiced in a joint media release Wednesday between the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Phnom Penh.

Australia and Germany see this initiative, launched today by Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as a historic moment for Cambodia, it said. “We are proud of our longstanding support for the Ministry of Planning’s Identification of Poor Households (IDPoor) Programme, which will enable the implementation of the important initiative,” underlined the same source.

“As a neighbour and friend of the Cambodian people, Australia has a stake in Cambodia’s economic resilience and a strong commitment to working with a broad range of partners to develop practical ways of improving the lives of all Cambodians,” said Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia.
