Retirement Visa, Phayao

Featured Replies

Went to Phayao Immigration yesterday for normal 365 day extension.  Issued in 30 mins with no problems, but previously given a list of requirements for info from my bank to prove that I had 800K.

I/O showed me a page of rules for financial status, which seemed to include many checks that I had to money in my bank for the last year.  Bank (Kasikorn) appeared to know ll about this, and gave me the necessary docs.

Other than some nonsense about my form had to be written in blue ink, not black, and that I needed a new photo. all went without problem.  No mention of health insurance or the like

This was my 3rd or 4th extension, and original visa, which I think was Non-Im O is in my old passport, no way that I/O could check this.

Only difference this year appeared to be that checks on 800K deposit were more rigorous, and I/O was more than usually helpful.  Charged 50 Baht for photocopies of passport, IIRC last year it was only 3 Baht per page, but I am not complaining.

Just to be pedantic there is no "retirement visa". You extended your, presumably, Non O visa on the grounds of retirement.

Anyway good to hear it went so smoothly, but they must be getting desperate to insist on blue, as opposed to black ink. Probably be the other way next time.

Yet more paper to add to the mountain of old copies they have stashed away somewhere. It's like they don't realise that computer scanners exist.

Even though they take your photo anyway.

I guess it keeps a lot of bureaucrats employed.
