I was lost in my thoughts, checking today's news while riding a random bus on my way to downtown Bangkok this evening when suddenly I realized the presence of this small truck, which understandably caught my attention.

 

I apologize for the bad picture quality since the road was a bit bumpy and I tried to zoom in with a mobile camera.

 

I understand that some people in Thailand lack the education needed to realize the meaning of such symbology. That said, I was not the only person capturing the event. It's 2020 and Thai authorities must have seen this individual cruising the streets of Bangkok before. 

 

I post it here so members of this forum can illustrate what is the reason for this and more importantly, why it's tolerated in the Kingdom. 

 

Please note that this was not a parade but a traffic jam. Fortunately, no passengers were seen at the back of the vehicle. 

well the west tolerates the black lives matter fist, and you see idiots walking around still in Che shirts, he was a self confessed rapist and executioner. This sort of thing in the pic is just down to ignorance and the paucity of the Thai education system.

A great many Thais have no idea about history, their own or anyone elses, or that there was a WW2, or that their own country just caved in and collaborated with the Japanese.  To them, this will be just an unusual symbol that they came across, with no significance attached to it in their minds. Ignorance is bliss, never a truer phrase.

I’m surprised the Russian hammer and sickle and the Japanese flags also survived the pc scrutinisers over the years.

They killed and tortured many more people, even their own but no, nazism isn’t really alive and kicking in Thailand.

But even so, one person having a swastika painted on the back of their truck doesnt show "Nazism is well and alive in Thailand" , quite the opposite actually , it would show Thais have no idea about what the swastika stands for

A certain mr. A. Dolf made it into something else but origin it is a religious symbol.

Its a Religious symbol different meaning when inverted or clockwise/counter clockwise.

I would not paint it on my vehicle

but it was present in Asia 100s of years before Nazism

Hammers and sickles are innocuous items, too.  Unless you put them in specific colors and in a specific configuration.  Then they mean something different.  Just like swastikas.

100% correct. Would not know who Hitler was or represented. 100% no history knowledge  outside Thailand and not much about their own history either.
