Popular Post retiree
Made appointment on line. No need to check in -- just go to the dedicated window (e.g. section L1 window 32) at the appointed time. Had application, copy of appointment, copy of 90-day report (which they kept), copy of passport pages, copy of bank book, letter from bank. Had to draw a very simple map; I'll bring one next time. No TM.30 request, but I did submit it last year, and haven't traveled since (I think they did look it up). Had to fill and sign a bunch of additional forms, and hold up one of them up when they took my picture. Also had to sign a receipt when passport and bankbook were returned. Took 20 minutes at desk, + wait 20 minutes for return of the passport. Thanked the more senior official profusely for the on-line appointment system; she said, basically, yes, esp. for retirement extensions. One addition point: I've had a fixed-deposit account for the 800K for many years (just like US; i.e. you can withdraw early but forfeit interest). It only posts interest payments quarterly in the bankbook (and auto-transfers interest to a regular savings account). Thus, my letter was dated the day before, but my bankbook's last update, also printed the day before, was two months ago. This was not a problem. I recall that last year it was commented on by the IO for the first time, and her supervisor had to OK it. For other oldsters who (like me) have an abundance of caution: everybody is masked up at CW. Distancing is lax on lines, so I didn't get in any. The inside waiting area was a bit more crowded than I was comfortable with at my age (even with spaced seating), so I went off to the side. All in all, it was well-run, and was the most positive experience I've had at CW (or Suan Phlu, for that matter). -- Retiree 8

OJAS
Given the absence of any reference to mandatory health insurance, I assume that the original visa which you used to enter Thailand was of the non-O variety?

retiree
No, just the copies listed in the original post. (I have no recollection of what my very first retirement extension required, though.)
Makoshark
Retirement Visa - Make the appointment using Google. Any other browser will not work. I go back tomorrow with my new out-patient insurance info as well as in-patient insurance. And YES, i had to show 2 years bank statements as well as 'credit advice" for the year. In total over 45 pages of zerox's. WISH me luck tomorrow.
berybert
I just tried to book an online appointment but can not. After the fiasco of trying to do my renewal early and being unable too because the start of the insurance date and the date I went being different I thought online sounds good, I'll book an appointment, No good booking early because the insurance wont be valid. My extension runs out on the 12th July and insurance starts 13th July, so Ill book 13th July. But you can only book until the day your extension runs out which is the 12th July. This insurance lark is wonderful, they are getting £500/600 for nothing and making it harder to do things by the book. Thainess.

If CW IO insists that your policy must have started already on the day you apply for your 1-year extension, you will have no choice but to ask your insurer to change the start date of your policy (meaning a new HI Certificate issued with that new start date, and an update of your policy data in the TGIA database). You cannot apply anymore for the 1-year extension after your permission to stay expiry date, so going to CW on 13 July - your present insurance policy start date - is not an option. You would have to choose an earlier date which is convenient for you to visit CW again, and ensure that the policy has started already on that day or earlier. Note: Obviously, most of the bank documents needed will have to be updated again too. you will have to change the start-date of your health-insurance policy

Do I believe them ? No.

But of course you would need to have all your bank-documents updated for that 13 July visit.

Taking a chance on an IO's words doesn't feel me with confidence I'm afraid. But they might not accept the insurance if it doesn't run for the full year. Rock and a hard place comes to mind.
