BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand on Tuesday confirmed two new coronavirus cases imported from abroad, marking 36 days without local transmission.

The new cases were Thai nationals returning from Qatar who were in state quarantine, said Panprapa Yongtrakul, a spokeswoman for the government's COVID-19 Administration Centre.

The coronavirus has killed 58 people in Thailand among its 3,171 infections. Of those, 3,056 patients have recovered. Thailand will reopen schools and bars and allow some foreigners into the country from Wednesday.

Two new Covid-19 cases, both in state quarantine

By The Nation

Thailand saw two new confirmed Covid-19 cases without any death over a 24-hour period, Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul, assistant spokeswoman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said today (June 30).

The two latest cases were male masseuses, aged 27 and 28, who returned home from Qatar and were under state quarantine in Chon Buri. Both were asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, three patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours.

As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,171 (2,444 domestic cases and 234 found in state quarantine). Of these, 57 are under treatment, 3,056 have recovered and been discharged, and 58 have died.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases has shot past 10 million, increasing to 10.4 million, and rising by 159,000 in the past 24 hours. About 500,000 have died. The situation in the US continues to cause alarm, with more than 40,000 new confirmed cases among an overall 2.6 million as of today.

Good for Thailand.

As they are shutting down or talking about shutting down things again in the US.

Have some friends still stuck there hating life.

Idiots still arguing about wearing masks it seems to never end.

We/Thailand has been very fortunate hope it continues.
