The board of Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) held an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday (July 1) to appoint board member Chansin Treenuchagron as acting president as of July 2.

The airline’s board also accepted the resignation of Chakkrit Parapuntakul from his post as acting president. Chakkrit still holds the position of THAI’s second vice chairman.

Kick the tires, look around "yep, this heap is done"...

'Acting' about sums it up.

"Hey look everyone - I'm pretending to run an airline".

'Puff and Pie' is probably their most valuable asset at the moment, apart from their LHR landings slots.

He looks  quite  respectable  and relaxed. Obviously  has already been  given the  key to the  executive   bathroom.

Must be some mistake it appears he is not an ex general and looks like he might actually know something about business...

Then again he will need to be some kind of business sorcerer to raise that particular phoenix from the flames..!

Brave man to take on the poison chalice.

Whichever way you look at it temporary is the best option for Chakkrit.

His resume seems to be from the oil and gas industries, when will they ever learn that to successfully run an airline you need someone with the proper skills and not an ex general or a political stooge... or not, as the case have been so far with THAI history...

I think that Thai Airways, if it survives, will make a profit.

In 2175.

I mean who wouldn't hop on this government run behemoth?

Mr. Treenuchagron only joined Thai Airways back in June.  Would I be right in thinking he only has one months' airline experience? If so, surely they could have found someone a little more familiar with running an efficient airline.

As I have said before, Richard Branson is available. He isn't doing anything at the moment

what's he gunna do ' ....  order the tea & coffee supplies for the office

Who's he related to?

Rather him than me, but in all fairness, with the right man/woman at the helm, the company could be saved.

Moving Deckchairs around on the Titanic again !

It's a fundamental flaw of the Thai/Chinese business culture. The common belief here is that the boss can do anything and everything. He's the boss, after all.

Their success will have everything to do with how many foreigners they think the country will "lure" to Thailand. That is their only business plan. Get more Chinese in...

How many Vice Chairmans do they have? Second Vice, 3rd Vice? For what?

When he suddenly realises it's not gong to get any better, at least he can sh!t himself in executive luxury.

Thai might have the best oiled revolving door, it seems ........ spinning without resistance all the time!

Wouldn't that be a loss of face - a foreigner turning Thai Airways around?

Perhaps that's why he's not not doing anything - here.

He's not even a General, ... I guess they all left that sinking ship.

Wouldn't that make him an admiral?

Do you they can be saved. They seem to be busy sweeping all their past mismanagement under the carpet. Is anyone going to trust them any more? A lot of their customers have lost money from cancelled tickets without much hope of a refund.

For what you ask? To milk the cow of course.

I like Thai, looking on here, one of the few, but will they never learn,

they need to appont an executive expat with vast experience in the aviation industry, not another

political appointment. An oil & gas man just will not be able to do the job

In this case, the Titanic is already sunk and at the bottom of the ocean.
