Pattaya: School teens on a night out - Mini overturns on bridge, three seriously injured

Police and rescue services were called after a Mini Cooper with Bangkok plates overturned on a bridge on the Route 7 motorway (Section 5) near Pattaya around 1.30 am Sunday.

The five occupants of the car were aged 16-18 and were all secondary schoolchildren in Chonburi.

The driver had to be given CPR at the scene before he was taken to hospital. Two others were also in a serious condition.

Two were slightly hurt.

One of the injured said that they had been to a pub in the Pattaya area and were on their way back to where they were staying.

The driver lost control on a bend after hitting a barrier and overturned trapping those inside.

Meanwhile their parents were having a quiet drink at home; socially distanced, of course.

Age 16-18 , I wonder which one owned the car and which one was driving .  Looks like back to the scooters for a week or two.

My guess: the well-off parents gave it to their spoiled brat.

Obviously a Hi-So family if they're happy for their teen kids to go gallivanting around the bars late at night in a car that starts at 2 million Baht.

Also, no mention of the driver being checked for alcohol level after their night out boozing, so it must be a well-connected Hi-So family, lol.

5 little hi so kids 16 to 18 out drinking, what must the families be thinking

Oh wait, its ok as we can pay to cover it up ????

That entrance to the 7 tightens quickly if you come in too hot, lucky they did not go over the edge.

He must have thought he was Paddy Hopkirk,

no he would not know who he was,and could

not drive as good as him, either

I presume of course that the pub of course didn't served any alcohol to guests under 20 of age...:whistling:

Okay I know that most Brits are so good that they would have never drank and drove when they were a teen.  That goes without saying.

However, as far as my American and fellow canucks and probably Aussies will confirm while lately it is a lot less condoned it is still a part of our lives that we as Teens in the 17-19 age group like to have a few drinks and get a kick out of getting past the door man with our FAKE ID.

I am a little older (not sure if wiser) but can remember  a few nights that i woke up glad that I had made it home.  There were a lot less cars on the road then and the speeds were not as high as they are now.

As to the level of intoxication of the people in this car we can not be sure. I do know that a group of giggling teens in a car that is small and goes fast is not a great thing.  All it takes is to take your eye off the road for a second and with the lack of experience that these kids probably had driving the game is over.

Let's see iof anything happens and thank god there do not seem to be any fatalities except for the car.  I am sure a lesson was learned

Paddy Hopkirk certainly didn't drive Minis like this one.

Police should find out which pub and slap them with a 5 year ban, then the other bars around the place might have a serious look at themselves

Timed right one could scoot around the roller barricade and come out with some hectic corner speed.

Bangkok drivers are startled and amazed by more than 20m of clear road ahead and have to drive as fast as they possibly can.
