Thailand saw five new confirmed Covid-19 cases in state quarantine without any deaths in the past 24 hours, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, reported today (July 6) – the 43rd day without any domestic cases.

All five latest cases are masseuses (four male and one female) who returned home from Kuwait on June 29 and showed no initial symptoms but were later found positive.

Meanwhile, one patient was reported to fully recover and return home.

As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,195 (2,444 domestic cases and 258 in state quarantine). Of these, 65 are under treatment, 3,072 have recovered and been discharged, and 58 have died.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases has now reached 11.5 million, up by 170,000 in the past 24 hours, with 6.5 million having recovered and 536,000 dying.

NO!

Why would it? The numbers are low partly due to the closure.

You want to let in a bunch of potential infections in?

For what?

If the few people they're letting in at the moment on repatriation flights are being found to have the virus, it means they would have brought it in if the quarantine wasn't in place.

Surely that means the border definitely can't open yet, unless there is a quarantine for tourists as well. Unless you think it's a good idea to let the virus back in?

Every case recently involves a recent arrival who appeared well until quarantined. After approx 5 days in quarantine they test positive. This suggests to me that the infection source is in the quarantine facility.

Passing through the airport or on the flight, 1 person might have infected the others ?

They will always find cases from Thais returning from abroad. There is no stopping it, unless they just close the borders and don't let anyone back.

That aint going to happen. But Thailand has done really well to keep the figures low.

These incredibly high percentages of "imported cases " make a mockery of the fit to fly business
