A representative of Thailand's medical community has stressed that moves to get Thailand back as a medical hub after the coronavirus pandemic would not mean that the country will let down its guard.

Dr Thares Krasnairawiwong of the health promotion department said that no one will be allowed into Thailand for Covid-19 treatment.

All medical tourists must have a certificate that they are coronavirus free and even then they will have to quarantine at a suitable facility for 14 days then have three subsequent checks before they can be admitted for treatment for their condition.

Only urgent cases who have a history of treatment in Thailand will be allowed entry in the first phase. Appointments must be scheduled.

Patients must arrive by air and can only have two others with them for support.

Another piece of:

"We think that millions want to overrun Thailand and we are going to be very very picky and make it very very difficult for you."
