Thailand is in the preliminary stages of making same sex civil partnerships legal.   Although civil partnerships grants some rights, it falls short of full marriage.   Which of the options best fits your opinion.

Civil partnerships are a sop and merely a stepping stone to full marriage equality. Many countries in the world have already demonstrated that gay marriage does not lead to the end of societies or hell on earth. Equality through full marriage for gays is the only just outcome unless straight couples are also limited to civil partnerships.

I might add that gay marriage should never be put to a referendum. It should be enacted as a human right. The casual use of referenda for gay marriage or legalising of homosexuality can be used by despotic governments to legitimise their prejudices through populism and electoral fraud.

I have no issues with gay marriage, to each their own, however other groups use it as a stepping stone. Transgender activism generally comes straight after, which would be fine except for the excessive demands being made to completely rewrite society. Additionally the New York Times and other publications are now saying that pedophilia is a condition and not criminal, despite the damage to the victims.

The survey needs another option.

Personally I couldn't give a toss either way.

I think there should be gay marriage because I sometimes like the man.  He makes me feel beautiful.  No homo.

Pedophilia is a complete separate issue from gay marriage. The majority of pedophilia are in the straight community, but many consider sex with underaged girls less serious than with boys. Sad.

Alcoholism is considered a condition, but any harm caused from this condition should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Would full marriage of gay people allow marriage visa for Thailand? Civil unions would not likely apply to immigration.

But also true, giving rights or privileges to certain groups often leads to more demands. Look at BLM for example.

And if the referendum arrives at a positive for legalising gay marriage, do you still label the corresponding government the same?

For those who can't cope with anything but the whole marriage bit (ie the first option above), the obvious answer is: Perfection is the enemy of progress.

What in the world does pedophilia have to do with gay marriage rights?  If you're going to use that warped reasoning, you probably should have also thrown nymphomania into the argument.  And, maybe agoraphobia, while you're at it--if gays get the right to marry in Thailand it might lead to some people being afraid to leave their homes.  Like bbi1.

Of course there should be no gay marriages in Thailand or anywhere in the world. There's the age old saying "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve".

It's illegal to be LGBT in 70 countries, and you could be given the death penalty in 12 countries. In Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan this death penalty is regularly imposed across the county. You can also be punished by death in some provinces of Somalia and Nigeria.  A further six, have legal or religious provisions that also allow for the death penalty for consensual same-sex sexual acts between adults. In Afghanistan, Brunei, Mauritania, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, the law exists, but there is little evidence LGBT+ are facing the death penalty.

Once a country starts accepting this they will start accepting other sick stuff like beastiality, pedophilia, etc. Same same but different.

There are a lot of people who come to live in Thailand because fags are not accepted in their countries and they know full and well Thailand has a lot of fags/he-shes/lesbos and it's tolerated here.

Civil partnerships that are legally the equivalent to marriage, absolutely right.  'Marriage', well it depends on what you believe to be the definition of marriage.  This is a very personal view,  and in my mind its nothing to do with religion, but to me, 'marriage' is between a man and a woman, not same sex couples. This is also controversial, but I believe that adoption, and indeed parenthood,  should be restricted to married couples.  Kids need the balance of a male and female partnership to foster their own development and growth. Again, I realise that this is not a view shared by many others.

I'm not supporting that old cliched phrase, but as a general point, everything that happened, or was believed,  prior to 2020 was not all wrong.  Just because something is 'modern thinking', doesn't automatically make it right.  A lot of modern thinking is off the wall and plain wrong, we have seen that in the last few years in a number of controversial areas.

Does it really??? Since when was it legal? Can foreign gays stay in Thailand on a marriage visa?

I thought gay marriage is not legal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Thailand

Thai law currently does not recognize same-sex marriages, civil unions, or domestic partnerships. Despite the lack of formal legal recognition, Thai same-sex couples tend to be publicly tolerated, especially in urban areas such as Bangkok, Phuket or Pattaya.[11]

In Saudi Arabia and some other "modern" countries, you can be sentenced for witchcraft!

Is there also a good reason for that?

Religious krap is the reason, although religion and reason do not sit well together.

I know some gay couples with kids in my home country.

I do not have a problem with it.

They are:

Mostly well off financially.

Kind people.

Good parents they spend a lot of time and appreciate being parents.

The divorce rates amongst gays is much lower then hetero.

Not sure what the big deal is they seem happy so..

Surely the misnomer is "gay Marriage",

All people should have the right to Marriage Equality irrespective of sexual orientation.

Personally I have never wanted marriage to any gender, I do not require a piece of paper to legitimise my relationship.

I support the right to Marriage Equality though for all.

How would gay marriage benefit Thailand as a whole?

It may benefit a gay minority, but what would be the benefit for the whole of the country?

Has there been a benefit for all of the UK, Spain or Germany in having gay marriage?

As opposed to a benefit for a small gay minority?

Taiwan has already approved it. Thailand with its Katoey should be next for full marriage.

Two things will save Thailand, gayness and legalising marijuana. Both are pretty ubiquitous already, why they just don't make it legal is beyond me. I suppose it will interrupt some income streams. The powers that be are on a losing wicket if you ask me, this whole China centric thing, is pushing upstream, we're mostly onto their game now, in the West. China is having difficulty not imploding, as indeed is the US. Their seems to be an optimal level for Empire, after that it just all falls apart.

No, this is not good. I a healthy relationship, there is usually a c**t and a d**khead. This is a terrible situation. Now it can be two c**ts in one family as well as two d**kheads. That´s a real recipe for disaster.
