April 22, 200719 yr Onet battle to go to the Supreme Administrative Court Office of Higher Education Commission (Ohec) will Monday appeal against the Khon Kaen Administrative Court's order that has required Ohec and the National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS) to recognise six students' new Onet scores. The court order was against the University Presidents Council of Thailand (UPCT) resolution that students' Onet scores would be valid for university-admission system only when the scores came from the first time the students took the Ordinary National Educational Test (Onet) test. "We can't accept Onet scores from the second time and third time that the students took the test because it's against the principle that Onet tests the students' academic performance upon their completion of Grade 12," Mae Fah Luang University's president Vanchai Sirichana yesterday said. He chairs the UPCT. "In our appeal, we will inform the court that the court order does not only affect a small group of students, but up to 200,000 students who will apply for seats at universities this year," Deputy Education Minister Varakorn Samkoses said yesterday. After the appeal by Ohec is lodged, the Supreme Administrative Court will rule on this case. The Nation
April 22, 200719 yr Author It is sad to see students that did not pass the test try to force themselves into a university. Certainly a good reality check for students next year and beyond. 200,000 students wow!!! A wonderful excuse to be lazy and not study if the court rules in their favor. I wonder where they want to build that nuclear power plant.
