Pattaya: Pod of dolphins clear evidence that the sea is clean, Thai media

9pm.jpg

Thai media 77kaoded reported that tourists were delighted to see a pod of dolphins frolicking in the sea between Pattaya and Koh Larn.

A post on the page of Toretto KohLarn featured a 1.22 minute video taken around noon on Saturday.

The media said it was quite uncommon to see dolphins in the area.

It was clear evidence of the cleanliness of the sea and the regeneration after the island was shut down during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pattaya prides itself on having dolphins as its symbol with a roundabout and an underpass adorned with statues.

However most residents, foreigners in particular, complain about the state of the sea and say they would not swim in it.

Maybe now they may start to reconsider their standpoint.

Less tourists less <▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎> going into the sea from the sewer plant by Walking Street.

its a question of the seas being quieter, they may be a little cleaner but noise and human activity is the key,the boat traffic is minimal now.this affects how the animals and fish behave.pattaya still has a large population and waste still goes into the sea.

Are they sure these are not sharks?

In later news 'Chinese submarines mistaken for dolphins'

Yeah, the reduction in the number of speedboats and maniacs on jet skis probably has more to do with it than anything. The off shore fishing/restaurant boats won't be dumping as much garbage into the bay, but other than that, not much has changed.

It's not like the tourists were hauling bags of garbage from their hotel rooms and taking them out into the bay to dump them and that was scaring the dolphins off.

Maybe it has something to do with fewer "beached whales in speedos" in the water as well. Maybe the dolphins thought all those pasty white creatures bobbing in the sea were some kind of toxic land monster, shedding gallons of sunscreen, alcohol ladened urine and days old skanky body odour into the water. With all those creatures gone, maybe the dolphins think it's safe to get a little closer to shore now.

"Pattaya prides itself on having dolphins as its symbol with a roundabout and an underpass adorned with statues."

Err, statues?? More like fibreglass Disney animals, complete with peeling paint and chipped plaster.

World's stupidest dolphins end up in Pattaya and cant produce a fit to swim and covid test certificate inside 72 hours ????

Clear evidence the Creatures were lost, because the Ocean is not clean.

The world's oceans are shamefully polluted, but not near Pattaya. Amazing Thailand.

A stretch of the imagination if ever there was !

Then i hope you also aknowledge that when they are gone the sea is filthy  again and needs to be cleaned
