Poll: People want new cabinet to speed up solutions to economic problems

 

   

BANGKOK (NNT) - People want the new cabinet to solve economic problems first, according to an opinion survey by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, or Suan Dusit Poll.

 

The poll was conducted online with 1,078 people throughout the country after Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said a cabinet reshuffle was imminent. Asked whether the people would benefit from the cabinet reshuffle, 48.70 percent said no, saying only politicians would; 37.11 percent were uncertain, saying they would first have to see the composition of the new cabinet; and 14.19 percent said yes, saying new, competent team members would help stabilize the government.

 

Asked what they wanted the new cabinet to prioritize after taking office, 89.29 percent wanted it to address the country’s economic problems; 74.06 percent wanted it to solve the problem of unemployment and 72.84 percent wanted it to be transparent in its work, attach importance to people’s livelihoods and look into people’s indebtedness.

 

Most people think the country has many problems especially the current economic difficulties. Therefore, it is a challenging task for the government to expedite a solution process to build confidence among the people.

People want a new government, new constitution and the regime gone and out of their lives. They are tired of the old ways and same things over and over of being controlled and suppressed.

Why do they refer to it as a " cabinet " as well .. when I was a kid a cabinet was a piece of furniture kept in the front room .. or a sideboard if you were poor and didn't have a front room .. but having said that members of the sideboard hasn't quite the ring of cabinet has it ..

Why would a Thai government care what the people want? Doesn't seem like they have, for quite some time

These people also believe in the Easter Bunny.   The junta ruined things for the average Thai's job market when things were okay.   How are they going to fix a crisis?

Yet the majority don't want international tourism to return.

That shows the state of the governments credibility in Thailand.

Only 14% say the government knows what it's doing.

The U.S. president also appoints a 'cabinet' to lead various sections of the government. In Trump's case he appoints people to dismantle those departments, such as housing, education, the environment, and he's proud of it.

They are talking like their 'economic difficulties' are part of a systemic issue with the entire government as opposed to draconian dictates issued by a handful of "leaders" that shut their economy down.  First off, be able to clearly define the facts.

Yes, but that same 90% want to shoot themselves in their tourism foot by banning foreigners

What do you expect from a bunch of soldiers who do not have the education to be able to run a country?
