OAG panel meets to probe prosecutors’ handling of Red Bull heir’s case

The seven-member fact-finding panel, of Thailand’s Office of the Attorney-General (OAG), held its first meeting today to discuss their work related to the controversial decision, by public prosecutors, not to prosecute Red Bull heir Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya over a fatal hit-and-run incident in Bangkok in 2012.

Led by the Deputy Attorney-General, Mr. Somsak Tiyawanic, the other members of the panel are Mr. Singchai Taninsorn, Director-General of the Criminal Litigation Office, Mr. Chartpong Chiraphan, Director-General of the Economic and Natural Resources Litigation Office, Mr. Paramet Intharachumnoom, Director-General of the Thon Buri Criminal Litigation Office, Mr. Charnchai Chalanontniwat, Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Litigation Office, Mr. Itthiporn Kaewtip, Deputy Director-General of the Criminal Litigation Office and Mr. Prayuth Petkhun, Special Prosecutor of the Criminal Litigation Section 3.

The panel will go through the Vorayuth case file, prepared by the prosecutors, and the reasons behind the decision to drop the charges, to determine whether they are in accordance with the law and related regulations.

Lets not 'beat about the bush’.............

"The panel will go through the Vorayuth case file, prepared by the prosecutors, and the reasons behind the decision to drop the charges, to determine whether they are in accordance with the law and related regulations too can profit from this"

How ironic that the suspects are investigating themselves now in order to find out the truth. Shouldn't the investigating committee or panel normally be impartial, thus unbiased?

But then again, perhaps we should make that standard legal practice from now on. Let's have human trafficking gangs investigate themselves whether they have broken the law. Let's Ponzi scheme perpetrators dig deep to see whether they have actually ripped off scores of people. Let's have land encroachers look for evidence whether they have illegally occupied national park land or not. And not to forget: Let's have bribe takers determine whether they have in fact received such funds.

If the government are not careful they will end up shooting themselves in the foot yet again .................LOL

They've shot themselves so many times in the foot they're immune to the outcome !

7 members suddenly got a ferrari's each as a gift ?

This gov is rotten from the head down.

A Dog and Pony Show.

Everyone knows what happened here. They'd be better off being quiet and hoping some other story comes up. This pretense about being concerned and "getting to the bottom of it" just makes them look even more dishonest than the country already knows them to be.

Just shut up, count your cash and try to forget about the disdain with which you are held by the Thai people.

Hey Red Bull family, we missed the brown paper bag the first time around. Give us some money or we will open a new can of worms ????

Here it comes. The fact finding panel with obsolete decision. This is the general directors aka good guys...... And the answer will be a No, we didn't find any wrongdoing and due to the sensitivity of this case we can't reveal what our decision is based on. rofl

And because it's all too often, it's unfortunately, all too often just taken for granted.

Note that they are not checking to ensure that the case was investigated properly and witness credibility was assessed. They are only checking tonsure that the process to drop the case followed correct procedure. They will not challenge the opinion of the prosecutor to drop the case based on questionable evidence
