Not sure if this has been reported already: last Thursday the Bankruptcy Court accepted a petition from Nok Air for bankruptcy protection (Thai Aw did so in May). Flights will continue for the moment. The long-range arm, NokScoot, folded recently apparently after Scoot (Singapore) pulled out.

Problems at Nok are not new however. Apparently they have lost money during the last six years, facing heavy competition from Thai AirAsia and more recently Thai Lion at Don Meuang. From my own (limited) experience Nok is/was something halfway between a full service and a low-cost carrier. Not unlike Air Berlin -Germany's second largest airline- that went down last year.
