Thailand saw two new confirmed Covid-19 cases in state quarantine without any deaths over a 24-hour period, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, reported today (August 6) – the 73rd day without domestic case since May.

The latest cases are a 42-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman who returned from the United States on July 31 and were found to be positive on August 4 in Chon Buri state quarantine. Both cases were asymptomatic.

There was one previous confirmed case sharing the same flight.

Meanwhile, four patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours.

As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,330 (393 found in state quarantine). Of these, 124 are under treatment, 3,148 have recovered and been discharged and 58 have died.

Globally, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases increased to 18.9 million, up by 272,000 in a day, with 12.1 million having recovered and 711,000 dying.

Thailand’s ranking stayed at 112 for the number of cases worldwide, while the US continued to have the highest number of infections at 4.97 million, followed by Brazil (2.86 million) and India (1.96 million).

Thais? Don't believe there're any ASQs in Chon Buri.

The fact that the Thais on the repatriation flights do not have to have a Coronavirus test before getting on the plane to come to Thailand scares me a bit (booked on Aug 30th flight) and seems to make the required test for the non-Thais moot.  The Coronavirus RT-PCR test within 72 hrs of flight has become the hardest hurdle to get over for some of us trying to return given how impacted the testing facilities are at the moment.  You will be refused getting on the flight if you don't have the lab test docs in your hand.

Was the previous confirmed case on the flight a Thai national? Was that person asymptomatic?
How close were the people seated who tested positive  1 week after arrival to the person on the flight who tested positive immediately upon arrival?

Don't let those dirty Americans in here!

Not “dirty.”

But so many covid. Because they refuse the mask, refuse social distance, have covid parties, refuse the tracing app, fighting together, black and white, lefty and hard right, republican and Democrat, have riot, looting, protest the mask, anti vaxxer, protest lockdown, bleach cure, etc etc etc etc

The obvious flaw in the system is that they are not testing Thai nationals before boarding.

If you live in the USA, or Europe you can afford a test (or get it done free). It adds that layer of protection for that flight.

Agree.

But, thai help together. In USA, Europe many thai die already. Is difficult get help, doctors give para and say “go home, take care yourself”.

If they not care thai people, we must care them.

Must be quickly.

eg

On April 21, the woman posted a video saying she was homesick and explaining that she had to twice plead to see a doctor before she was finally diagnosed with Covid-19.

A Thai YouTuber whose videos detail her life as a Thai wife in the United Kingdom died of the coronavirus,

Another Thai living in the UK, Rawatt Sutumvarapornd, also died of the coronavirus recently,

More Thai covid death in Europe and US than Thailand.

Thai love Thai. We care them.

Utter nonsense.

If you live in the USA, Europe, for all their flaws their health systems would not tell Thai citizens to 'go home and take care of yourself'. It is in their interest to get you tested so you don't have the virus and spread it. If you are ill, even without health insurance they will treat you for Covid.

Give me ONE example when a Thai citizen in the USA or Europe has been told to go home. You won't find any, so don't sprout nationalistic nonsense.

There has been no known case in the USA or western Europe where someone has been ill and a test refused - not since the outbreak really broke out.

You could easily get a FREE test in the USA or Europe. You could pay for a test also.

Anyone that comes from any country needs to be quarantined. False negatives happen, and no one is immune to Covid. The only reason Thailand got lucky is luck. Wearing masks in a country where people share food and drink doesn't stop anything, and neither does 10 people all sitting next to each other and grabbing sticky rice from a communal basket. This country dodged a huge bullet, so far. A combination of a mild version of the virus, most people outdoors, sunlight, Vitamin D from the sunlight, better general health, less obesity and wearing masks helped. Covid doesn't target any specific race, and anyone can carry the virus. If you quarantine everyone, and find hotels that don't cost an arm and a leg, anyone can afford it. letting Thai's come back and not quarantine is ignorance and stupidity. And prejudice. Many more people than 58 died from this virus here. Pneumonia cases are higher this year than before and they aren't tested but just cremated. This virus has brought out the liars and crooked politicians even more than before. American people aren't stupid but arrogant and proud. Testing before a flight, then again on arrival, then quarantine, will stop this virus.

Tell them go home= there house in Europe. Must take care themself. Terrible.

Read my post, I not say the doctor said “go back to Thailand”.

“As much as it’s lovely to have visitors to Australia in good times, at times like this, if you are a visitor in this country, it is time—as it has been now for some while, and I know many visitors have—to make your way home and to ensure you can receive the supports that are available where they are in your home countries,” said Morrison. “At this time Australia must focus on its own citizens and its residents to ensure that we can maximize the economic supports that we have,” he said.

You really do talk rubbish.

There will be no Thai citizens in USA or Europe who have been refused treatment, testing or help.

In the UK and Netherlands they tell you wait till you get serious before bringing you into hospital. In some countries (correctly) you come into hospital straight away.

BUT AT NO POINT IS ANYONE WHO IS ILL IS REFUSED TREATEMENT. Even in the USA, where health insurance is a controversial topic, they will treat anyone with covid free. Please don't talk utter rubbish.

BS

It is thought that as many as 16,000 people died because they didn't get medical care between March 23 and May 1.

up to 25,000 deaths would have come in the first six months because of healthcare delays,

16,000

That only U.K.

I show you link, and video of real people explain.

You not read, look, just argue.

Talk rubbish.

I would say Yinn is partially right. During the height of the epidemic, in the UK GP doctors would not see Covid patients - the GP doctors only had a limited supply of PPE, and (rightly) felt that they needed to avoid getting infected as they would then possibly infect other patients who were already ill. Anyone with respiratory problems was told to stay at home, take paracetamol and only go to hospital if they suffered breathing difficulties. Unfortunately, some people just didn't go to hospital in time. Quite a few died at home - as did many in care homes.

Due to the lack of preparation for the epidemic in the UK, it just wasn't feasible for everyone with a cough to see a doctor. The 16,000 quoted by Daily Mail who died without Covid are people who either didn't see their doctor or a hospital for other illnesses, or didn't get routine tests done. Or maybe they had Covid, but it was never diagnosed. It was a trade off - the NHS couldn't keep up normal services AND deal with the epidemic at the same time.

We should remember that 540 NHS staff died of Covid - they were not old, or have severe pre-existing conditions, or they would not have been working. I did a quick calculation, and NHS workers had about a 400% greater death rate than other working age people.
