Air Ticket Required At Mae Sai ?

Does anyone know if an outgoing air ticket within 30 days is required by immigration at Mae Sai border crossing? The posts I've seen so far suggest it's only a requirement at border crossings to Cambodia.

I'm planning on going next week to get a 30 day visa exempt stamp. I will be going to KL next month to get a tourist visa but I'd rather not book my air ticket yet as I want to take the GF and she isn't sure if she can make it yet.

waveydavey, i've been following information on the topic since i'm also going next week. there have been a couple of recent reports that both of these checkpoints are not requiring onward ticket or 10k on your person. i'm leaving a few days early so i have the option of turning around and not playing their games.
