The country witnessed three new confirmed Covid-19 cases, all Thais, in state quarantine over a 24-hour period, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported today (August 13), the 80th day without any domestic case since May.

The latest cases are a 53-year-old asymptomatic construction worker, who returned from Singapore, and two female masseuses, both 30 years old, who came home from India. One had a runny nose and had lost her sense of smell, while the other had a cough and muscle ache.

So far, 75,684 returnees have entered state quarantine, with 67,559 returning home. Meanwhile, the government has found 422 virus patients in quarantine. Of these, 290 have recovered and been discharged.

As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,359 (422 found in state quarantine). Of these, 132 are under treatment, 3,169 have recovered and been discharged, and 58 have died.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases is now 20.8 million, up by 292,000 in 24 hours, with 13.7 million recovering and 747,000 dying. Thailand ranks 114th for most cases in the world. The United States has the highest number (5.36 million), followed by Brazil (3.17 million) and India (2.39 million).
