Travelling by train: buying tickets in the day?

Hi,

 

Quick question regarding travelling by train these days.

 

I’m considering travelling from Bangkok to Hua Hin by train later this month. Haven’t done so for a long time but when I did I used to buy the ticket on the day of travel. Is that still possible or has anything changed due to Corona etc?

I did this trip a few weeks ago and for the train we took which was C Class only they could only be bought on the day.  The higher classes could be bought in advance.

 

There was a form to complete with personal information before you purchase a ticket and these were available all over the station.

I 2nd this, and would like to add that some of the shorter journeys can only be bought on the day due to limited class availability.

Bought a ticket the day before the journey last week , they wanted to see my passport, the train arrived in hua hin 1.5 hours late

I would suggest getting the MRT to Bang Sue and the train from there to HH. It is only a few yards from the MRT to the railway station.
