Non-ED visa expire, can I stay beyond 26th Sept?

Featured Replies

Hi, I hope you're all good in this difficult time!

I just graduated from the University a few weeks ago, and my Non-imm ED (education) visa will be expire within the end of this month (31 Aug). But I need to stay here at least until early october (1st week) to complete all the university documents + attending graduation ceremony.

I've talked to university and glad they understand my concern. Unfortunately, they can't provide visa extension permission letter due to I am already graduated. However, they suggest me to use 30-days extension using Embassy Letter. in this case, I have several question;

1. Is it possible for me (Non ED visa holder) to do 30-days visa extension using an embassy letter? so I can stay here beyond 26th sept.

2. If it's possible, can I apply it a few days latter from now on or need to wait until nearly 26th of september?

3. If I stay in the kingdom until early september, while my visa is already expire at that time (exp 31 Aug), and IOs denied my 30days extension, how was my status? I mean, can I directly leaving Thailand (before 26th sept) without any penalty? Or I have to do something before leaving Thailand?

Thankyou in advance!

You don't say what country you're from, some have said they are not providing embassy letters. You can apply anytime and it will start after sep 26th if you do get one. If you leave before Sep 26, you don't need to do anything.

1. Yes you can if you are able to get the letter from you embassy.

2. The extension will start on the 27th of September. I suggest you wait until about mid September to apply for it.

3. It would have no effect on leaving on or before September 26th.

I am Indonesian, just want to go to my embassy tomorrow to check it. Hopefully they provide the letter, because I bring the university letter also for the embassy. Anyway, thank you for the information
