All district offices and local administration organizations in Thailand have been instructed to monitor the health of people who have completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine, to make sure they are clear of COVID-19 infection.

The instruction was issued by Interior Permanent Secretary Chatchai Promlert, after the Disease Control Department found that two Thai women, who had completed their 14-day quarantine and returned home, subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.

If those who return home from quarantine develop symptoms related to COVID-19, health officials must be alerted so that they can be treated.

Makes one wonder what exactly was the procedure all this time?

Was the Thai reality of quarantine just a lock down with temperatures taken?

At the end of 14 days if you were not obviously sick nor had a temperature released??? was that all the testing they performed before releasing them?

Does that mena, they DIDN"T monitore them before?

Like "Soooo...you spent 2 weeks in our quaranteen.,..that'll do! Off you go!"

Not that I would put that beyond these idiots, but that would be a new low and a serious blow for all those, believing in the zero- cases BS and praising the efforts of this inept government!

The Disease Control Department insists, however, that the two Thai women are not new cases or regarded as locally acquired infections.

Of course they can't be locally acquired cases it would damage the reputation of Thailand.

Look mum there's a pig dressed as a pig ..

hmmm history needs rewriting as either Mark Sennet was either Thai, or there is some serious plagerism going on here !!!

For non-Thai's arriving and staying in ASQ there were Covid-19 PCR tests taken on day 5 and day 12.

I assumed this was the same for Thai’s staying in state quarantine.

Maybe someone with a Thai Wife / Friend who has stayed in State Quarantine can confirm.

So basically saying you will have no relief of freedom after your 14 day stay at the quarantine Hilton.

Surely it would be better to make sure they are clear before releasing them?

So for the quarantine in the hotels is one cleaner assigned to just one room or are they allowed to freely wander through the hotel from room to room ?? ????

Seems to me, the virus is getting its own back. So, you think you're clear do you? Well, I'll sit here in the background for as long as it takes then rush forward and screw up your life and the stats...

Good Idea lol,  should be 21 days anyway

Maybe she contracted the virus later....alsi those pcr tests are not indicated to do this diagnose...

So all the wealthy people quarantining in expensive hotels will be able to pay those officers a ???? sum of money to be checked out as healthy i geuss , as it goes with most of those institutions .

Not only... you need to paid a lot to be locked in a fake gold room.

But what do you want more for a little flu who has a very low power to kill now (less than 0.5 per thousand of infected people) ?

I suggest the end of dumb panic now (so the end of crooks mind think in correlation).

The Bear and Mr Plod have already developed herd immunity and we will soon be employing more of them

Is this in response to the guy who arrived on 2 June, did his quarantine, and 10 weeks later, no symptoms,  tested positive for COVID-19
I have a foreigner friend that was tested upon arrival, midway through his quarantine, and at the end of his quarantine. I am also curious if Thais get tested, at government expense, or released if asymptomatic after two weeks with no testing.

But I’ve heard that 3 weeks is a general recovery time for people without complications.
I’m curious if people with no symptoms and no health problems that test positive during quarantine have to pay for expensive hospital stays. Unless there are medical problems, people testing positive knee quarantine and not hospitalization

It's just another word for nothing else to lose.

Like they do with crash helmets and driving without a licence...:coffee1:

The room is not cleaned until the first (day 5) Covid-19 test result comes back negative.

After day 6 you can request your room to be cleaned every couple of days.

You have vacate your room and go to a ‘common area’ (i.e. sit by the pool) while your room is cleaned.

Staff are wearing full PPE (like a hazmat suit !)

Hotel Staff do not 'wonder freely' from room to room.

While I was in ASQ I had my room cleaned once in two weeks. It really didn’t need more cleaning than that.

Non-Thai’s have the Covid-19 insurance (US$100,000 min) which covers the cost of any hospitalisation.

Thai’s have their own health care system, thus any hospitalisation if free for them.

It was my understanding that if someone in Quarantine tested positive they would be taken to a dedicated hospital facility to continue their quarantine under observation and treatment. If I’m not mistaken the hospitals use Avigan was used as a prophylactic measure.

I’m not 100% sure though, there are lots of rumours and I haven’t heard first hand of any non-Thai who has tested positive while in quarantine and told their story.

it is only the Chinese that have the virus, they have gone now so should be virus free

Rest assured everyone, governments always make the right choices.

Your time will be used efficiently and your tax dollars wisely spent.

No need to worry.

Sorry   , Scared of their shsdows .

I do not understand all this fass .

Thailand is not Covid Free , just most of population is asymptomatic and the rest goes under seasonal flu ....

If they want to “track” AFTER quarantine then the entire countries population should be tested!

i am sure that millions are positive with a sniffle...

I still think this whole thing is way overblown, and FEAR is ruling the sheep. Mind control from governments and media outlets.

if a vaccine doesn’t work then we are all screwed for MANY years to come!

China has a favorite word (i worked in China for two years), and the word is PUNISHMENT.

China needs to be held accountable.

I suggest a that countries return the manufacturing base back to their own borders. The cheap junk being produced by China while they get rich is disgusting .

Also quarantine the Chinese within their borders for 5 years.

Some USA people are VERY obese and unhealthy....many Die from normal flu (80000) yearly.

So after obtaining a fit to fly cert, a covid negative test in order to fly, a test at the airport, a haz mat van escort to a house arrest quarantine that you have to pay for which includes 3 days locked in the room before another test which if is negative you get an hour and a half yard time for another 11 days and then the want to lo-jack your a$$? Obviously they are not serious about returning the tourism industry
